We were all crowded outside the weight room, all trying to get past one another, except for me. I was in the back of the crowd, surrounded by three people that appeared to be having a casual conversation with me. In reality, though, it was very much so not. In fact, I was pretty sure they were holding back the urge to kill me. Good thing for them it was during the school day. I say that because if they were to even try to lay even a finger on me, what they undoubtedly wanted to do to me was, in comparison, child's play, if it wasn't during school, of course.
"Wow, third grade roast alert!" One of them said, whose name was Thomas.
"One would think that you wouldn't be scared of getting rabies, 'cause, you know, you have it." I came back with.
"Ha, second grade roast!" He said.
"You know, I think I know why you are saying my roasts are so bad. You're just jealous that I can come up with good ones, while you can't even come up with a halfway decent insult." I told him.
At that, he immediately shut up, and just froze, like he had seen a ghost, which was unsurprising. They followed me everywhere. I took the opportunity to get past him, and into the weight room. Once I was inside, I immediately got onto one of the ellipticals and started jogging. I am not a normal person. I am technically not even human, but I have to pretend to be, for my own safety. I lived in a small town called Fallholt at the time, mainly because nothing like murder or anything happened on a regular basis. But also because it was where Ashton would be the least likely to look. Right under his vampiric nose.
After a few minutes of jogging, I got off the elliptical, and I walked over to the biggest weight lifting machine there, and just stared at it, wishing I could've thrown it at Thomas's head, but that was a really bad idea, and I knew it. Next thing I knew, Thomas was right next to me, looking directly at me.
"Why you staring at it, is it your girlfriend?"
"I thought he was already yours." I said, with extra emphasis on the he.
At that, he seemed to get really mad at me, and that resulted in him trying to shove me to the ground, and failing miserably at it.
"Not gonna happen, buddy." I said with a laugh, and I tapped him on the forehead, which sent him tumbling to the ground. "Oh, don't be such a baby, Thomas. I just tapped you. Get up."
"You have no idea what you're getting yourself into, Amy."
"You're the one who has no idea what he's dealing with."
"I know exactly what I am dealing with, werewolf, black blood, shadow witch hybrid."
At that, I was shocked, but I didn't show it. I did show, however, a slight laugh with a hint of confusion. I was a werewolf. A werewolf, descended from a vampire, gifted with the abilities of a shadow witch.
"You need mental help. None of those are real. Do you even hear yourself right now?" I said.
"You know exactly what I'm talking about. Oh, I just remembered to tell you, I told Ashton exactly where you are." He said with a smirk.
"You did what?!" I said, probably louder than I should have.
People turned to look at what was going on, but really didn't care, so they went back to whatever they were doing at the time.
"Just so you know," I said very quietly, only so Thomas could hear, "you should stay far, far away from supernaturals. It can, and probably will, get you killed. I hate you, but no so much as to wish you dead." With that, I went to the teacher, faked being sick so I could leave, and left the room. That was when I saw a glimpse of him. Ashton was there, looking for me, and I realized that if I didn't get out of there quick, I would say hello to Ashton, and probably hello to the other side along with him. I turned right, aiming for the doors to go outside from the cafeteria. But before I could get there, I saw a glimpse of Ashton's platinum blond hair. I started going a little bit faster, but in vain. I was staring into Ashton's icy, blue eyes.
