Puppet Slavery Act:
The Puppet Slavery Act was enacted on Mars 13, 1657. It was exposed to the whole land, the government forcing it upon the people. This was the peak of technology, the biotechnology of this new act forced others to become "puppets," as they are called.
A general description of a "puppet" is the person that had been taken into custody is operated upon to create them in a slave/servant. After the operation, the person is now hollow, but is still human--there is only one condition with this, though. The person has been frozen in time, not a single hint of mortality left in them. They are still seen as human, but they are no longer "living."
An enlightment is taken out of the person(see Enlightment for full description) so the operation may be completed. After doing so, it is placed back into the body, connected back into the central Nervous System. Holes are to be drilled into the person's upper body(shoulders, upper chest, upper arms) to control the puppet. The holes are so small, thin strings that camouflage into the surroundings are placed into the holes, bringing the puppet oxygen, nutrients, dispose of waste, etc. Depth of description seen under General Puppet Body Structure and Controls.
When the act was put into place, it made each person pay a fee. Who could not pay it were instantly taken into custody, turning into the government's property. An uproar occurred when families could not pay the fee for their loved ones, but the government threatened to create all the protesters puppets. This instantly quieted down the public, especially the lower class--the proletariats. The higher class--the affluents--were not concerned, knowing they would be granted the labor of the new puppets.
After the people are in the hands of the government, the government has their own control over those people. They are then exposed to becoming a puppet. To mark a puppet, a barcode is placed upon the puppet's right forearm(seen in diagram below). A number and code are placed on the arm to define that puppet. This is to make sure that the puppet is placed into the data system.
For the fees at the start of the Puppet Slavery Act, people were forced to pay to not be created into puppets. For a child, it was 200 silvers, while an adult(16+) was 250 silvers. As time went on, when a child was born, the parents had to pay 200 silvers, or when someone died, the family had to pay 250 silvers. This method was created to collect money from the people. If they were not paid, taking the person in would cause them to become a puppet to pay when they were sold.
Puppets are considered to be immortal. Their body is frozen within time. They cannot be extricated from reality unless given extreme or unusual circumstances that they must be removed.
Enlightment:
An enlightment is known as the core soul of the body, holding who the person is. Now known in this other dimension you "humans" are in at the moment, it is mistaken as the frontal lobe. It holds personality, behavior, a limited amount of emotions, problem solving, speech, body movement, intelligence, concentration, and self awareness. In general models, the enlightment is separated from judgement, planning, writing, and more movement that some of the puppet should not be able to experience.
General Puppet Body Structure and Controls:
- All models must have 28 holes(anterior and posterior) to help hold up the puppet, give them oxygen, bring nutrients, etc. Special shirts are created for the puppet to wear due to the holes and cords.
- Artificial hearts are used for the puppets due to risk of a human heart unexpectedly giving out.
- Nerves that are not used by the Nervous System are supraclavicular, axillary, radial, and musculocutaneous.
- Before put into use, the puppet is given immunizations to fight off any unexpected pathogens. Immunizations are requirements every year to protect puppets from becoming sick.
- General body systems available in puppets: nervous, muscular, skeletal, integumentary, circulatory.
- There is no regeneration of tissues or cells. Osmosis is not available within cells. Unavailable body systems' organs are not present within the body.
- Tissues that are present are epithelial, dense connective, supporting connective, skeletal muscle, and nervous.
- Daily functions, such as eating or drinking, is not built in to the models.
- Puppets are connected to ceiling beams that run through an area to help them go around the place. They let the puppets be able to access where they need to go and instruct the puppet's motions.
- Puppets come at a price of 100 silvers to possibly 600 silvers or more. The creators decide their price range.Reader's Past:
You were only four years old when the Puppet Slavery Act was put into place. Your father was a robotic mechanic from the technology boom, your mother looking after you when your father wasn't around. When the act was forced upon the population, your family only had a limited amount of money to pay for the fees. Your mother had your father stay with you as she was taken away. You never saw her again.
Growing up, you never had a motherly figure to watch over you. Your father always brought you to his work, giving you a notebook with an ink stick. You were a secluded child, always creating things with your hands. Your father allowed you to create robots, even putting them up for sale sometimes. You two lived comfortably, your creativity growing.
As you grew older, your father decided to place you in a puppetry school. From there, you learned things about creating the new mechanisms, finding fascination in the creations. You did have a slight grudge against the puppetry business, but you grew a liking for the beauty of the twisted machines.
Years went by, your knowledge growing more and more. You were surrounded by older teens, though, due to finding their passion at an older age. You made mild friends, always doodling and creating, even causing it to grow to your pants where drawings laid. It was almost like a perfect dream for you.
Just weeks before your graduation(you were seventeen), your father passed. There was only school and a carrier to drive you to become the best you could. You used all your savings to pay the fee of your father's death, the government taking away his money. You were left to fend for yourself, just barely getting by with what money you had left.

He always studied anatomy, but never went to school for it. He had taken over his father's position at his company to make some profits. His life was easily lived and easy to go by.
