The Johnson's: The Not So Perfect Family

Chapter 15

Winter got into the car with Brooklyn. It was quiet for a little while. Until Brooklyn phone had rung. It startled her. She was in such a deep thought about was Charles. All she wanted was for him to be safe.

Brooklyn answers the phone, “Hello?”

The other person is just breathing heavily on the phone. Creeping Brooklyn out. Kind of scaring her a little. “Who is this?” Brooklyn yells

“Brooklyn give me the damn phone.” Winter yells.

“The Doctor is dead.” The man laughs and hangs up.

Winter snatches the phone too late. Brooklyn is clearly upset. Winter is pissed now. Winter calmed down cause she wanted to know what was said that made Brooklyn so upset. She cut the radio down.

“Brooklyn who was on the phone?” Winter asked.

“They didn't say.” Brooklyn said in between sniffles.

“What did they want?” Winter questioned.

“Nothing mom. Just forget it.” Brooklyn was growing irritated.

“You are crying so, clearly it isn't just nothing. Now, what was said.” Winter demanded.

“They killed him! Mom!” Brooklyn burst into tears.

Winter couldn't believe her ears. Why kill the doctor. He holds no importance to us. Well, at least to her knowledge he didn't. Brooklyn really liked her doctor. That hurt her child. So whoever did that if it's true, must pay.

“Mom, how can someone take someone away from their kids?” Brooklyn asked.

“He had kids?” Winter sounded surprised.

“His first one. He didn't get a chance to know.” Brooklyn responded.

“How would you know Brooklyn?” Winter questioned.

“I'm pregnant.” She mumbled.

“Brooklyn! Why would you let that happen? We already have one baby in this family. What the hell are we going to do with two of them?” Winter screamed.

Brooklyn just cried. Winter seen how upset her daughter was. There wasn't nothing they could do about it now. The damage is already done. Winter was so stressed out. Two kids, a dead father, and no one is taking this serious enough.

They pull up to the house and Brooklyn decided to go her friend house to get her homework from there. Winter reminded her to come there and back. It was way too much going on now. Her kids safety was the only thing was on her mind. Brooklyn drove off. She went to get her homework. She drove past the doctor office. Something made her go there. She didn't know why.

Brooklyn pulls into the parking lot. Maybe she would had seen something that the detectives had missed. She looked for about fifteen minutes. Nothing. Frustrated Brooklyn started walking back to her car. Then someone came running after her.

“Brooklyn.” The receptionist said.

“Yeah.” Brooklyn responded.

“There’s a letter that Charles wanted you to read. I didn't give it to the Detectives cause you know, it's personal.” The receptionist handed the letter to her.

“Thank you.” Brooklyn grabbed the letter.

Brooklyn was nervous to read this letter. She prayed that Charles said anything to help her solve what happened. She knew that her father was somewhere behind this. Brooklyn was done being scared.

The letter was like fire on her lap. She couldn't wait to open it when she got to the house. Only thing wanted was revenge. Not just for Charles, but for her whole family. Especially towards her unborn baby. Brooklyn was growing angry. She pulled into the driveway and parked the car. Brooklyn have never ran so fast.

Bursting through the door Brooklyn yells, “Mom!” she gets no answer. Brooklyn goes upstairs and it's a trail of blood. Leading to her mom bedroom. Brooklyn was scared what she might find in there. She turns the knob. Her biggest fear, her mother lying there in puddle of blood. Brooklyn felt like she was running towards her in slow motion.

“Mom! Nooooooo!” Brooklyn screamed.

Brooklyn grabs her cellphone and dials 9-1-1. “Please, hurry my mom is dying.” Brooklyn throws her phone.

“Mom! Who did this?” Brooklyn screamed in between tears.

“Detective Julie. Trust no one baby. I love you.” Winter eyes goes closed.

Brooklyn cries over her mother. Waits for the ambulance get there. She hopes this isn't the last she sees of her mother.
