Zoe hung up the phone and turned to talk to Carl. " Thank you, here is your phone back." She smiled at him and placed it on the counter. Not looking up from his magazine, he grabbed it and put it behind the counter. Zoe thought for a moment before she continued to speak to him. " Is there a place I can stay till my friend arrives?" She asked. Carl was silent for a moment. He appeared to be thinking it over. Carl glanced at Zoe for a moment then nodded in the direction of a small door towards the back. " Over there, don't touch anything." Carl said before going back to his magazine. Zoe glanced in that direction, there was in fact a small does in the corner. She stood in place for a moment, thinking about what all had happened to her. " Hey one last thing if you don't mind. If a guy about my age, comes by tell him I'm not here please. He looks like a normal high school football player." Zoe looked at Carl, praying he would say yes. " Yeah sure whatever, just go away and leave me alone." He said annoyed with Zoe. She lit up with a smile then walked off to the back room, grabbing two bags of chips and a water before entering.
It was a small office like room. With a small metal desk, a small metal chair, a few medium sized file cabinets, a dull lamp, and a small dead plant next to it. She walked around the small room while opening her first bag of chips. She was starved, and if she had to was stale Sunchips, then so be it. The blue carpet was stained and appeared not to be cleaned in a few years. There were spider webs in all the corners, but she only saw on spider. Zoe chuckled to herself as she thought " Maybe that spider killed the rest and ate em." She laughed again. Zoe was always making herself laugh. She finally sat in the chair, and leaned back. The chair groaned, it hadn't be used in years. She started to relax a little bit and after only what seemed to be one minute her first bag was gone, and so was half her water. Zoe started to think, think hard about her life. About what little she actually knew about everything. Drake was some sort of murder, and she had know him for a long time. She never would have guessed he was what he was. Thinking about all that made Zoe's head hurt, so she opened and ate the other bag of stale sun chips she had. Also drinking the rest of her water, she figured that would tide her over till she got back home. Zoe started to realize how tired she was, her eyes were straining to stay open. " Just for a few moments." Zoe said, shutting her eyes. Not even one whole minute went by before she was fast asleep.
Later on, Zoe's eyes shot open as she was awaken by yelling. Someone was in the store, yelling at Carl. " Where the fuck is she?? I know she's here!" She couldn't make out the voice, but knew it was a mans voice. She started to panic, what if Drake and coming looking for her? How long was she asleep? Questions clustered her mind as she worried more and more. More yelling could be heard, and then there was a crash. Something was thrown. Zoe desperately wanted to go out, but was afraid of Drake. Now there was two people yelling, it appeared Carl had lost his temper. Zoe couldn't take it anymore. She gathered up her confidence, and walked out the door. The yelling stopped, and two pair of eyes turned and stared at her as she came into their site. " Oh thank god." Zoe breathed a sigh of relief as she ran and gave Dante a hug. Dante slowly wrapped his arms around her and said. " Zoe... I was so worried about you..." Zoe started to cry. She didn't know why she was, but she was. Maybe because of all that had happened, and Dante made her feel safe. All she knew was she was glad and thankful he was there. Dante hugged her tighter. " Don't cry, I'm here now." he whispered to her. Hearing him say that made Zoe cry even harder. " Shh Shh it's al-" Dante got cut off by the sound of screeching tires. Zoe pulled away from him a little, to see what was happening. And there he was, wild eyes and standing in the doorway of the store. Not even ten feet away. Dante pushed Zoe behind his back and stared at him. Zoes hand felt the Guardian Blade she still had on her. It was out of site, but she was willing to use it. Dantes eyes looked thirsty, thirsty for blood. " Dante." The guy said and tightened his grip on the swords he welded. " Drake." Dante said and clenched his fists.
