Third Person's POV

"Pain, without love... Pain..." Zoe's fingers strummed the guitar with expertise, with years of experience, she never really had the need to concentrate, the flow of the music as she sung connected as one, producing such a calm sense of clarity to any whom listened. "I can't get enough... Pain... I like it rough, cause I'd rather feel pain then nothing at all."

She layed on her queen sized bed as the final part of the song ended, thinking of how those lyrics really spoke to her, the disappearance of her father all those years ago and now her mother, always being called away to work in the unexpected hours of the night.

Zoe sighed, not enjoying where her thoughts were heading, a soft knock on her dark mahogany door saved her, just in time, she thought. Zoe grinned, instantly knowing who was behind the door. Quickly setting her guitar aside, she jumped off her bed to open her door for her best friend. Not forgetting to check how she look in her mirror though, Zoe's eyes as blue as ever, bright and full of excitement and her blonde hair as curly as usual, no matter what she did it stayed like that.

Zoe's eyes glazed over for a moment, remembering the importance of today, for not only Dante's sister, Jane, who was in fact, graduating today, but on the more important part, today Dante was going out with her to this event. He had asked her to go just because he didn't want to be alone there, but she thought of it as sort of a date. Zoe had been crushing on her best friend since she could remember, after the first day they met at aged two, they were near inseparable afterwards, which caused Zoe's affection to flourish greatly. Though, Zoe was fairly certain that it was a one-sided thing.

"Hey, are you going to open up or what?" Dante called, he rolled his eyes, knowing she was probably doing this on purpose, "I mean come on, who doesn't lock their front door but locks their bedroom door?"

Zoe huffed and rolled her eyes, she knew that Dante hadn't picked up on her feelings toward him, so when she was checking herself in the mirror he'd always assume she was pulling his leg and taking her time in answering her door.

"No need to be grumpy Dante," She mused, opening the door. "I was merely clearing out my closet." Without glancing at him, she walked to her closet, keeping up the facade that she was actually cleaning her closet, instead of, like always, getting sidetracked by music or mirrors. Plus, she couldn't bear for him to see her blushing, again. Pretending to be busy fixing a bright blue shirt on a hanger, she tried to make her reddened cheeks to return to normal. Stupid blushing, she thought grumpily.

"I'm not grumpy." He shrugged, walking around the room briefly. He paused when coming beside her dresser, he saw an unfamiliar jewelry box. Dante came to this house nearly everyday, more importantly, this room, so when something was amiss, or in this case, something new, he wanted to know where it came from. "Hey when did this get here Zoe?"

She glanced behind her, her eyes slightly widening when she realized that he had spotted the gift Drake had given her today. Drake was one of Zoe's close friends, in fact, if she didn't know any better, they were dating. She had heard rumors of her being Drake's girlfriend, even though she hadn't started these rumors herself, Zoe had an inkling that Drake classed himself as her boyfriend, even though he wasn't.

*Earlier Today*

Drake grinned when he spotted Zoe at school, during the final lunch hour. He had been looking for her earlier, but they were in different classes, so finding her during that time was a little harder the originally planned. "Hello beautiful." He mused, coming up behind her.
