HANA

"good think you asked. my father hit me. and my mother didn't stop him. all because i didn't do well in my exams. it's been like that for years. i'm surprised i'm not dead yet." i said that out loud as if i knew this woosung guy since birth. i told him the main story, and i've never told anyone. it's cause i don't have any friends. ever since i was 5, i was always deemed as the outsider. after a while, i got used to it.

thanks to whoever this woosung guy is. somehow he managed to make me smile for the first time in a while after letting out what i wanted to say.

"hey, if you ever need to talk to anyone, you can always talk to me. i'll give you my number, yeah?"

"s-sure."

i passed him my phone and he started typing in his phone number into my phone. why is he so kind? i asked myself. seeing someone kind was a rare sight to me. i would never hear those words in the past but for some reason i finally am able to.

"thank you," i say as he handed me back my phone.

"i'm so sorry, i gotta go now. my brother's probably already looking for me after i left him at the playground." he stood up and waved me goodbye before turning around to walk towards the playground, but suddenly turned back to me.

"on second thought, why don't you come to my house? your parents seem abusive, and it might not be safe for you there. it's completely fine because my parents are there. they've been waiting for me to bring a girl home anyways so.. if you're fine with it i can bring you to my house and i'll get you some food? i'll help you patch up your wounds too."

"i-is that really fine?"

"of course. i think it's also an opportunity to be friends with someone new." he walked away, nearing the bridge.

maybe.

maybe i had just found the hope in my life.

with that, i ran across the bridge to keep up with him. thank you so much, woosung.
