Chapter 1 – Strange & Shouting
The door creaked as I opened it slowly. “H… Hello?” I murmured with my voice trembling. Suddenly I hear a loud bang and I LEAP backwards in fright. “AAH!” I squealed and ran out of the house. As my luck seemed to end, I tripped over a loose board on the porch and my ballet slipper was jammed in a crack in the floorboards! Wait – what is that noise? I look behind me and see something coming towards me. “GET LOOSE YOU STUPID SHOE!!” I continued to squeal. Suddenly it comes clear in my vision: my flashlight. I giggled nervously because I got scared of a stupid flashlight that fell out of my pocket. Amazingly, my ballet slipper came out of the hole. I turned on the flashlight and crept back into the house. It was actually pretty grand, but creepy. A crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling and a grand staircase was directly in the middle. It was freezing cold, and I got the shivers. Cobwebs were everywhere, and it reminded me of this horror movie I watched a month ago. Eight Legged Freaks or something like that. Well my luck REALLY seemed to run out because my flashlight went out. “Oh come on, seriously?!” I moaned. The room was yet again completely dark. Something ran past behind me, WHOOSH! I turned around in fright. “What the…who’s there?”
That thing yet again ran past behind me! “Show your face!” I shrieked. I saw something white in the corner of the room… glowing, I think. I slowly walked over there. “H… H… Hello…?” I faintly whispered, almost touching its shoulder. Then that thing turned around and –
Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep! “AHH!” I squealed as I opened my eyes in horror and sat up. My mum burst through the door and glared at me in shock. “What’s the matter?!”
I was practically panting from what just happened. I glared at my mum and began to sob. “Are you alright?” she asked me nervously. Mum walked up to me and I immediately hugged her. “Oomph!”
I don’t know what just happened, but I really got a fright.
Then I just kept saying in my mind:
“It was just a nightmare… it’s not real, it’s just imaginary, but a bad imaginary dream. Like I was actually there…but not.”
I climbed out of bed and walked down the creaky stairs. I smelt something delicious… like bacon and eggs. That was the usual breakfast on Sunday’s. Wait – IT’S SUNDAY?! “MUM! Why did my alarm go off at seven if it’s a flipping Sunday?!” I yelled. Mum walked down the stairs and joined me at the archway that lead into the kitchen. “I set your alarm at seven because I just received a call from your auntie Josie. She said to bring you to her place and let me go have a day of pampering. She is giving me some money for it, and she said she might take you-”
“Wait – YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE ME GO TO HER HOUSE?!” I screamed in anger. “Can you let me finish?! Okay, she is giving me some money for it and she said she might take you SHOPPING if you brought along some money.” Mum finally finished, sighing. Suddenly, I snapped out of my crabby mood and smiled happily at mum. “Shopping? Really? Yay!” I clapped cheerfully and then walked into the kitchen to get my DELICIOUS plate of bacon and eggs! A big whiff of the scent floated past me and made me feel super hungry! I grabbed a knife and fork, picked up my plate and walked into the dining room. “Oh yeah, and she will be here in an hour and a half!” mum warned me before she walked into the bathroom to go to the loo.
I put my plate, knife and fork on the table at where I was going to sit and I pulled out the chair. I sat down and then slid forward closer to the table. Oh no, my poor stomach was growling! “I better scoff down this meal before my stomach eats the whole house!” I grinned. I cut up some of the bacon and shoved it in my mouth. Those crunchy bits, those fatty bits, the flavour, its just… to die for!!
