As we arrived, they realized two things:
One, they were walking at the same speed.
Two, they were cool with each other.
When they entered the room, our heroes saw that the machine was already being used by another team and it seemed to be that it was the brave horizon crew that was working as hard they could. 15 minutes past until they finally were able to go into the simulation as the other people's in the room were mocking them. As the test progressed, the boo turned into owe.
Successful attempt. said the machine
- so *out of breath* we're compatible in the more extreme side of things...sighed Lucas
- yep but at least we are. Said Simon
- it just sucks we're at our best only when a fight is going on and not when we must move from point a to point b
- you know that it's gon...
- yeah I know it's gonna happen some day when we keep on training no need to tell me that
- look it's what's left of the prototype! said a random guy running toward the exit of the shatterdome.
- should we go? Said Simon
- of course. said Lucas
As they both began to run toward the jaeger, they were horrified of what's left of it: the head, an arm, a leg and some plates and that's all.
- did it won? Somebody asked
The marshall stood up, clenched his fist and said a sentence that changed our lifes forever:
- we didn't simply killed the kaiju, we defended the city as well. At the start of our hopes, at the start of our times, we will fight to keep the apocalypse away from what and who we love!
Everybody screamed in pure joy, some fell to the ground, some hugged each other.
- but we are not done with those monsters yet. Reset the clock!
Everybody watched in terror as the numbers went back to their original position 00.00.00.00.00. Such numbers were a reminder that no matter what we'll do, they'll keep on coming, growing stronger with each new attack. One day we will not be able to fight anymore and they take everything they'll want.
- we need to go back to the simulation. Lucad said
- I agree. Said Simon.
Timeskip
After a dozen tries and errors, we finally managed to build a strong and fiable neural bond that meant we were ready to fight. But it still took use more than two weeks to do so.
ALERT ALERT a kaiju have been detected
- you're ready Simon
- of course let's take him out
