As we got to the main station, we were greeted by the Marshall.
- What you two did there was really unique. You protected both the coast line from a kaiju blue infection, but you also slayed a monster for the first time in real life.
- It's thanks to our training, sir. If we didn't trained for two weeks straight, we wouldn't have been able to accomplish this feat. I said
- Yeah it was pretty insane to do this. I mean, come on, it's not everyday you get to kill a monster that was threatening your life. Simon said
- The training isn't the only thing that can explain what you two just did... Normally, it takes up to three months to accomplish a bond this strong between two person, so what you performed is even more exceptional. As a reward for your services to humanity, you will be given a salary of 5000$ per month.
- That's a lot of money for just sitting around and waiting for a kaiju attack... Said simon
- Yes... But we are obligated to do such salary by the government, because they think you put your life in danger everyday.
- Ok but I'm perfectly fine with getting this much money personnaly.
- Either way, you two should get some rest because tomorrow, you're gonna get a special training.
After the Marshall went away, we started walking towards our barracks to get some well needed sleep but we were suddenly surrounded by a bunch of dudes who looked like they wanna fight. I mean... I'm fine with three, four people at once but I think Simon will be fine on his own. I saw in his memories that he used to fight using some boxing techniques.
- So you're the tough guy that stole from Giorgio, huh? Said the strongest looking person.
- Yep and I suppose your his infiltrated henchmen? Responded Simon
- wait they wanna beat you up into a pulp because of what you did? But you only stole a rubber duck!
- No, this rubber duck contained information about the nuclear launch codes and how to decrypt them.
- Wait, your serious?! I didn't saw this in your memories, all I know is that their boss got you into prison by using most of his money!
The second later we dodged a kick from one of the dude. I pivoted at 360 degrees and punched him in the jaw, knocking him out cold. I then watched Simon jump into the mass and started to punch everyone that he deemed dangerous to us. Just after this I did the same thing as him, the only difference being I used my legs more than him. Now five dudes were ko but there is still a bit more than ten henchmen left. After a lot of fighting, the security forces arrived and tazed every ennemy.
- You arrived a bit late, don't you think? Criticized Simon.
- Yes but we received the alert from a person who passed by. Thanks for having already koing seven people, it really make our job more easy. The guard responded
- Why don't you put a guard in each section and they patrol, it would be much more effective, no? I said
- That's...actually a great idea! I'm gonna tell the Marshall about it!
- he already thought about it but we don't have enough people to do the job. Said another guard.
- Anyway can we go back to our rooms or do we have to sign a paper or something? I asked
- No, you can just go back to sleeping
- Thanks anyways for tazzing them.
- No problem.
After this incident, we each went back to our own dorms and slowly slept the night away.
The morning.
Right now, I just woke up and need to pee and drink so I do both at the same time. Joking. Anyway, I need to tell Simon something that I thought about last night. So I walk up to his room and knock on the door.
- Who is it? He said
- It's me, Lucas.
- Then come in if you want! I'm always angry when I wake up so do fast!
- You should talk to people about why they are scared of you.
- But I don't wanna do that.
- You are going to do it even if you don't want to. Communication and understanding other is a key part of teamwork and right now, you have neither of them, except with me.
- Ok, ok. I will try to do this.
- Nice, we're going to do it right now.
- What?! But I am not even fully woken up!
- Then punch yourself in the face!
And so he did, no hard enough to knock him out but still stronger than a mosquito bite.
- You know I was joking about the punch, right?
- Of course, I just wanted to see if it would really work.
- You truly are stupid.
- Yep.
- Then let's go.
After some time, we managed to gather a group of around twenty persons that we noticed the day prior to the incident were scared of Simon.
-So... Why are you scared of me?
-You did prison for a reason we don't know, so it could be murder, torture or rape! Said a dude
-I did prison because I stole something that really wasn't that important, just a rubber duck from a person that had lot of money.
- Wait...you are serious?! Just a rubber duck!? Said another one
- Yep, that's all. So can you please stop being scared of me? It would be pretty cool for the work we are doing.
- Then, yes, of course we're not scared of you anymore, we're even gonna tell everyone why you did prison!
- Please don't do that, just tell them they shouldn't be scared of me.
- Deal.
After about five minutes, the room was empty, with only me and Simon in it.
-See, it wasn't that hard!
-Yeah, you are right, it was even a bit too easy.... I guess they're not ready to fully trust me just yet but hey, what can I do about it?
-Simple. Be more friendly with everyone.
-Really that is all I need to do?
-Yes that's all.
-Then I'll try to do that. But right now, I need to go pee, so see you later.
-Bye!
Two weeks later, people were starting to get used to Simon and were enjoying my stressed yet calming presence. Life was going great! I even made a few new friends along the way, so it was pretty good!
End of the chapter. Tell me in the comments what you want next!
