Chapter 4: The fight

delta ancestor on the bay, pilots present yourselves there* said a metallic voice
As we rushed toward the deck, we saw that everybody was looking at us with fear. I thought it was because they were thinking that we would fail, but really, they must be scared of Simon, as, you know, he kinda did prison. When we entered the robot, the same looks were pointing us, but they had no choice but to help us...

-you ready Simon? Asked the Marshall through the radio

-yes sir and ready to die for my country, joking, of course, yes, no...

- calm down and focus on one thing and one thing only: kill that monster

- yes sir! Said Lucas

*Neural link initiated in three...two...one...*
We watched yet again, between the tenth and twentyth(?) time, our memories playing before our eyes before getting to see the ones from our partner. As the bond formed for another time, the procedure finished itself.
*No interferences detected, advance out of the shatterdome*said the metallic voice.

We started to move one slow and giant step at a time. It was way different from the simulation, being more slugich and more responsive at the same time, it was really weird to feel this way. But anyway after the first step we started to accelerated until we managed to go at the maximum speed of the tall girl, which was pretty slow, even by Jaeger standards, but hey, that's what is needed if you want some strong defense and complex machinerie to turn a whole forearm into a giant drill. After around fithteen minutes of walking we got to the point where the kaiju was last signaled... Wait... He's not here?!

*Behind you delta!*

As we slowly turned around we could just managed to see something beneath the water, just a single blue spot. When we were about to punch it with all the strength the mechanical piston could give us, it jump out of the water and tried to eat our head but because of the way it is shaped, the beast couldn't managed it's job and backed away. We turned on all of our front light and the night vision to see what the beast looked like. We were in shock at this sight. It had a relatively slim build compared to onibaba, more like the fictional monster Godzilla. Portions of its skin were missing so we could see his muscles and flesh really clearly, a dark red with blue veins covering it partially.. the creature had small fractured structures that I assumed were supposed to be sensory organs like eyes or eardrums, meaning it was either seeing or using echolocation to know his environnement. His back was covered in plates that I supposed were made out of bones, meaning an attack from this side would result in nothing good, except maybe with the drill but we're gonna test this theory after the fight, right know we have to kick it's ass.

- let's kill this ugly son of a bitch! Screamed Simon.

- YEAH! I screamed

And so we advanced toward the ennemy, ready to fight.
The nuclear reactor was stumping and the energy flowing. Now, we were running at the demon that was coming. Loading up a punch, we were about to strike when the beast launched itself at us using it's spikes like feet and triple jointed arms. Since kaiju are really stupid, it tried to attack our cockpit once again, only for the same result to happen. So we punched the monster once, twice and it tried to escape, only for us to grab him and bring him closer than before.

-Activate weapon C! I shouted

• Left Forearms Flamethrowers engaged* responded the AI

As it activated, we looked at the beast screaming in pain, if we can even call it that, because we still don't know if they feel anything like fear, pain and other stuff.

-It freed itself from our grasp! Screamed Simon

-let let's chase this fucker and launch the drill!

With that being said, I initiated the transformation of the right forearm and hand into a ten meter drill.

*What are you doing delta?* Asked the Marshall

-shooting our shoot and retaking the bullet in the arm. I responded

As I said that, I raised the giant arm and aimed at the ennemy while still running towards it.

-activate cauterizer!

*Drill heater engaged*

- let's finish this fight in one attack!

At this moment, the monster turned around and started going toward us, so we responded by pulling our arm in a boxing stance, ready to deliver the one and only, the final blow. We advanced forward at max speed and pinned him at one place by breaking its legs. We then took our time, putting our right arm up in the air, and slammed the drill into its skull, killing the creature. The preheated drill cauterized the area, meaning no kaiju blue would go to the coast line. If the drill managed to pierce the cranium, it means there is no need to test it on the dorsal plates, the result would be the same.

*Delta, did you slay the beast?*

-yes sir and it was really easy. I responded

*Did the Jaeger got damaged?*

-just a bit but nothing too serious. Simon said

*Good enough, come back to the base for repairs and rewards*

-you heard that dude, we're gonna get rewarded!

-yeah it's pretty cool!

As we went back into the shatterdome, we kept a look at the corpse walking like Michael Jackson moon walk, just to be sure it was fully dead and not halfway and still able to move. But no, it was deader then dead. Back inside, people were just looking at us like it was no big deal, but I think they were still fearing that Simon might kill them, even tho he's never gonna do it. Maybe he's just gonna do a series of torture, nah just kidding with myself, as usual.

Oh boy it was long to do this one! But it was pretty fun to make. Next one, some explaining that some people will have to do.
