connection is rather special! it's actually an outline for an alternate universe where a game directed at teenagers is released on the app store. it entails some sort of social experiment which explores the darkest nature of mankind: curiosity, violation of privacy, and ultimately it is a game of trust and conviction.
the details are all down here - it's rather messy, but i used to like this idea a lot due to my previous experiences online and witnessing how online connections are made and broken.
---
nature of game
- social experiment / project
- people around the world are permanently connected through an application one-on-one, for the period of one month; to see how individuals interact when in a controlled environment? + social skills and the way it fosters connections with complete strangers
functions / requirements
- requires you to get in at least one hour of texting everyday + commitment to the relationship, as well as video chat and voice recording functions
- (specialty: diary function to record the day's thoughts. every day after texting → log in your emotions and the feelings you have toward your partner? the players do not know that the diaries are open voluntarily to their partner and their partner can choose whether or not they wish to access the diaries that the player has written about them)
- after the grace period of one month, are forced to terminate the connection forever + only way to keep connecting is through phone number, which can be sent
specialties
- dark side of the game: plays on the player's trust for their partner. there are three chances to learn about things that they wish to know about their partner (privacy has been approved by players once they first open the app and install; in the process the app asks for their contact information and gallery.)
→ first chance: in-game diary. players can access their partners' written diaries about the days since they started using the app.
→ second chance: gallery. players can access their partners' phone galleries and see what photos they have taken.
→ third chance: contact list and last made calls. players can access their partners' full contact list and peruse the phone numbers at their disposal.- however, they are not allowed to screenshot or download photos due to privacy concerns + there is a viewing time limit of 2 minutes. → protection of privacy: only partial contact list and gallery are shown in truth, names and contacts have been modified, due to this only being a social experiment
- after the three chances have all been used up, the player will be terminated if they fail to trust their partner and still wish to hack more information from their phone (the app will self-uninstall and all the data obtained will be deleted)
- each player thinks that the chances to violate their partners' privacy is an additional function in his / her own app. they do not know definitively if their partner has this function or not, and they do not know if their own privacy has been violated

a.n. and that's all i wrote for this universe! it's pretty intriguing, i could have gone a lot of ways with this.
