I went back over to my place the next day, when I knew that the McDouche's would be gone. I packed an overnight bag with some clothes, my laptop, and basic toiletries like my toothbrush and deodorant. I was just putting my shoes back on after changing into clean clothes when I heard a knock at my door. I froze up, staring in fear at the door like somehow if I stared hard enough they would go away.

"Hey, I know you're in there. I saw you walk in." I heard a voice call. "It's just me, Trevor. Dylan's not home." Cautiously I crept up to the door and looked through the peephole. It was just Trevor outside. I opened the door for him, keeping my body in the doorway so he couldn't come in.

"Hi," I said in a questioning, wary tone. He shifted on his feet, looking embarrassed.

"Hi, I just wanted to properly apologize for Dylan last night. He was out of line."

"He was an asshole." I stated, point blank. Trevor winced, making a noncommittal movement with his head.

"Yeah, he can be, that's why I'm here apologizing," I nodded, kind of uncomfortable with this.

"Thank you for apologizing for him, and thank you for helping me last night." Trevor brightened, his stance growing confidence.

"Yeah, don't worry about it. I felt bad that I didn't say anything and you looked so scared, I guess I just didn't want you thinking that we're all jerks." He laughed, his cheekbones forcing his eyes to squint. I smiled, still vaguely uncomfortable.

"Thank you, again." I said, edging my way back inside. Trevor sobered up,

"Yeah, you're welcome. I'll let you get back to whatever you're doing, and I'll try my best to keep Dylan and Levi quieter now that I know someone lives close to us." Trevor winced again, like he knew that it wouldn't end well for him

"I appreciate it," he smiled at me again, it was a very cute boyish smile that normally absolutely adore, but now I just felt nervous.

"Well, I'll see you around..." he chuckled awkwardly, "I'm sorry. I don't know your name"

"Y/n"

"I'll see you around Y/n, it was nice to meet you under calmer circumstances." Trevor waved, turning to leave. I watched his walk a couple paces before I closed the door and grabbed my bag. Waiting a couple minutes for him to go back inside. Trevor didn't seem like a bad guy, but the company that he kept was a different story. I was hesitant to trust Trevor's words because sure he had helped me, but he also stood there and watched Dylan force me inside without even a word. He might not be like his roommate, but he certainly didn't find his bullying ways to be too big of an issue.

I waited a total of five minutes before I left my apartment and went to Jack's. I ordered myself takeout and played on my laptop at his table while I waited. I tried to throw the empty packages away, but it looked like Jack had forgotten to take the trash out before he left. There were also dishes in the sink and the counter was a little dirty. I knew that if Jack would never leave it this way on purpose, looks like his hangover really got the better of him. I smiled to myself, tying the trash bag to take it out. If I'm staying here I can repay his kindness by cleaning up his apartment a little while he's gone.

His apartment wasn't too dirty, so an hour later I stood in his now spotless kitchen, smiling proudly. I looked in his fridge for something to drink and found an almost empty gallon of milk that had just expired by the smell of it, so then I cleaned out his fridge, wiping it down. I bopped my head to the music I had playing over his stereo. Say what you want about Jack, but his obsession with audio was really nice when it came to the electronics in his house. My favorite songs had never sounded better.
