The Cards

My four friends and I started towards the tower, unknowing of the troubles up ahead. When we walked in we saw something that glowed and we all headed towards it.

Hannah looked around while the rest of us just headed straight in. We found a template with four cards (picture) that seemed to be the source of the glowing. Even though usually red means 'Danger!' or 'Evil!' I felt as if, for some strange reason, those four cards were calling me.

Then I thought I was just thinking crazy, so I looked to see what the others were doing and everyone, except for Hannah, was staring at the cards walking slowing towards them as if in a trance. I felt as if the cards were pulling me towards them, tempting me to touch the card that was in front of me.

After we finished walking up to the cards we all touched the card that was in front of us at the same time, and suddenly we heard screaming. That took us out of our trance and we all turned around to see where the scream came from, and we saw that vines had come down, grabbed Hannah by the arms and legs and hoisted her up through the ceiling!

For some reason, we were still touching the cards, and after some time staring at the ceiling we all looked at each other and panicked! We were freaking out so much that we didn't even notice when we all took our hands off the cards. When I finally noticed, I saw that Christian was not freaking out AT ALL!!

In fact, he still had his hand on the card and he was just staring at it. "Get your hand off that card before you kill us all!" I yelled, "Why should I when it is calling me towards it?" Christian asked in a monotone voice. Jackson finally yanked him out of his trance, literally! He grabbed the hood of the jacket and pulled!

Christian and Jackson started fighting until we all saw the cards start to sparkle, then show a hologram screen, at first the screen just showed all blur, but then as time passed it started to clear up. The live video was showing Hannah, but she was not human anymore. She was crying out to us in a tone of pain but they words that she was speaking were not normal words.

All over her body, there was, what looked to be orange and black worms, and in between all of the worms, I could see a red liquid. It took me a while before I recognize it as blood. Her legs looked like one of those scaly, monstrous, creatures that lived in scary stories you tell children. It was so painful to look at, I was trying to figure out what room that looked to be but all of a sudden I saw the man in the red mask that we saw before we woke up here!

Next to him was a beautiful girl that looked to be our age, she was right next to the red-masked man and she looked just as evil as he did. They walked in front of Hannah so we couldn't see her, and in a deep voice that sounded younger than he looked started speaking, "Hello my dear friends! My name is Pyron and I am guessing that you are scared of me right about now, right?"

I could feel him smirking through his mask, but I wasn't scared, no I was mad! I wanted to go through that screen and wipe that dirty smirk off of him, and the girl's face! He started speaking again "Oh! Have you met my daughter yet? Well if you haven't, her name is Lika, she will be my successor one day taking my place. Let's just hope you can see her coronation day."

Oh so her name was Lika, was it? Well, now I have a new enemy on my list starting with Pyron! He continued, "You see those four cards that you touched earlier? I call those my Playing Cards, they help me make my games. It is sad though, that you had to be at the wrong place, at the wrong time." Wait, hold on, WE WERE IN A GAME?! ok now I was furious!

Turning Hannah into that, that THING was a GAME?! I was so upset I could feel blood dripping down my hand from clenching my fists so hard! He continued completely ignoring how angry I was, "My playing cards need numbers for you to get to the end of my game, this floor, of this building, has all four numbers that you need spread around."

Before Pyron could continue Jackson asked, "How many floors are in this building?" As if adding suspense to his answer he paused before answering, "There are seven floors, but each floor will be more challenging than the last, and you might have some struggles along the way." I was relieved, thank god! Only seven floors! Then he said a sentence that would forever bring fear into my eyes, "You may see some of your friends along the way too."
