Hi shadowhunters! So sorry I haven't posted in like a week. I've been super busy, I had my birthday and just fun stuff too. Yes I got books for my birthday and a $50 Barnes and Noble gift card! This chapter I had some trouble with, but I think I like how it came out. Enjoy!

The room was in chaos. The 15-20 shadowhunters I didn’t know were yelling things like “we need to bring this to the council immediately!” “what do we do now?” “we cannot afford another dark war!” “how is this even happening?” “I say we kill the girl or give her to him!” At that I felt Jace beside me tense and let go of my hand, stepping forward. I put my hand on his chest.
“Don’t. We can’t cause a scene.”
He stopped but had a death glare in his eyes. “I swear by the angel if any of them try to touch you or-“
“It’s okay. I doubt they will give me to Sebastian.”
“They won’t with me around.”
“SILENCE SHADOW HUNTERS” Jia Penhallow, the consul said while busting through the doors with a few other shadow hunters behind her.
“clave…” Jace said. Maryse looked petrified and shocked.
“Maryse, please inform me for what is going on here. The rest of you, sit and don’t waste time.” We all sat in chairs. Maryse was talking with the clave and consul. Jace, Isabelle, Simon, Alec and I sat in a circle. Jonathan sat near us, but not in the circle. He looked a little awkward, and I felt a bit of pity for him. No. Don’t feel pitiful for him. He killed Max Amatis and a whole other lot of shadowhunters. But that was Sebastian! That was when he had Sebastian’s demon blood in him! Give him a break, he feels guilty, and you’ve already stabbed him with the sword of hea-
“Clary? Earth to Clary!” Isabelle was snapping her fingers at me, interrupting my thoughts. (((should I make them parabatai in here? Comment please c; )))
“Sorry I was thinking. What did you say?”
Isabelle crossed her legs then uncrossed them. “I was saying if the clave will go and look for Sebastian.”
“Of course they will, he is a powerful demon on the streets. If they didn’t look for him they’d be mad.” Alec said.
“I think the clave is mad. They aren’t right up here” Jace said, pointing to his head. They kept talking, but I zoned out on Jonathan. He was looking at his hands. I guess we do share a bit of our jawbone, and our eyes are exactly the same color. He had a cup of coffee in his hand. Black. Just the way I like it. I sighed and stood up.
“Where are you going?” Simon asked.
I gestured with my head to where Jonathan was. “I have to speak to him sometime.” I walked over and took a chair and placed it in front of him, not too close, but not too far, and sat.
“Hey.” I said, sort of quiet.
He looked up then back down at his coffee. After a moment of silence, he said “you don’t have to do this.”
“What? Talk to you?”
“Yeah, I know how hard it is probably for you. I’m surprised you haven’t stabbed me yet or create a rune that will blow me into a million pieces. Or turn me into a zebra.”
I chuckled at that last one. “A zebra? They aren’t so bad.” By the angel, why am I being so nice to him? Oh that’s right, he is my brother. Ugh.
He smiled but still didn’t look up. “it was the only animal that came to mind.”
“I think a slimy snail would have been better.” He soon lost his smile and didn’t speak. After about a minute of silence I spoke.
“I take my coffee like that too, you know.” He finally looked up at that one, and I got to see his green eyes that are ever so like mine. He actually looked like he was about to cry. Good god and by the angel, this boy is breaking my heart.
“You hate me don’t you?”
“I-“ I didn’t know how to answer.
‘just say it if you do. I don’t want to live a lie or not know the truth.”
“Listen, I’m not sure how I feel about all of this happening. You need to understand this is a huge blow to all of us and m-“ I didn’t get to finish because Jia’s voice filled the room.
“We have a decision.”
