Violet awakes in Eric's and hers bedroom. Violet rubs her eyes when accidently scratching her cast on her face harshly. "Ow!" Violet yells as she squints her eyes in pain, and reaches her left arm to feel the cut. Eric rushes out of the master bathroom on the right side of the room over to Violet." Vi?! Are you okay? What happened?" Eric says worriedly. " Yes, I'm fine, I just didn't know that this cast was so firm. " Violet says as she feels the blood run down her cheeks. "Vi, we need to get you to the hospital. This cut could be serious! " Eric says as he prepares to get Violet's clothes together. " No. I'm fine. It doesn't even hurt." Violet says convincingly.
The truth is, Violet hates hospitals. The bright walls, beds, and lights, they frighten her. And the disgusting food that was served made her gag. The nightmares she had in that hospital terrified her. Violet was in the hospital for two months, and a week. However, to her, it felt like eternity. Having to go through a small summary of her childhood that barely showed all of the misery she went through. Having to see her father again, Having to see her mother feel terrified of even making a sound, now that scared her. Violet never really had someone to tell about her past until she met Ashley, her best friend.
Ashley lived next door when Violet and her mother escaped Violet's father. They wanted to start a new life together, trying to forget what happened at that old house. They met at CHS, a well known school in the town of Hawksdale, and a wealthy school as well. At CHS, they had parties that costed a fortune. And people that supported those broken and lost, like Eric. Violet transferred to CHS. It was a month after the school year has started which made Violet feel even more nervous about transferring. While Violet was thinking all about high school, Eric looked at her nervous. "Vi? Are you sure?" Eric said.
Violet looks back up at Eric with a blank stare. "Yes. You worry too much darling. I just need to wash my face." Violet pulls herself up and out of the bed. She then slips onto her wheelchair. "Do you need help? I can push you if you want." Eric says holding out his hands. "No. I have to do this by myself. It's the only way that it can get easier." Violet says as she pushes herself into the bathroom. When Violet gets into the bathroom, she closes the door and locks it. " I don't want Eric to see how weak I am. I know that he wants to help me get better, but I can't help it if I cry in front of him. Now, that would break me. I have to be strong. I have to fight this. I-I know I can do this. Thousands of people have lost their leg, or even both of them! If they can do it then, so can I. " Violet says thinking to herself. Violet pushes herself forward and reaches up to turn on the faucet, barely reaching it. She turns it on, and reaches her hands out only taking a few drops of water onto her hands. She splashes the water she has onto her face rubbing it in, and then repeating this.
Violet lifts herself up with her hands and forcing her left leg upright making her sit taller in her chair. She looks into the mirror and sees someone standing behind her.
It's her father.
