Aakriti’s POV :-

I opened my eyes and sighed. Kitna dukhta hai yaar..!! Aaj ke bad kabhi mobile me dekhte dekhte raste pe nahi chalungi. I swear. Yaaaaar.. I groaned. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door followed by Anvay. My mood instantly lit up. “Good Morning..!!” “Morning.” “Hmm… Not a morning person..?? I see.”  I smiled sheepishly in reply. “Yeah.” I wanted to get out of the bed, but my lazy brain didn't let me do it. “Now, I presume that you haven't brushed yet. So, do you have breakfast before brushing or not..?” “No. Never. I'll go and brush quickly and then we can go have breakfast.” he nodded in reply. I literally ran towards the bathroom and brushed my teeth. As I got out, I saw Anvay sitting on my bed going through my books. “Do you read books..??” I asked. “Umm.. Not really. I used to read textbooks during my college. After that… Only one or two. That too business books. Not like the fictional books that you have.” “You should read more. Abhi tak toh tumhe pata chal hi gaya hoga, that I love reading..!!” Of course. I remember myself screaming when I saw the library. “I am used to read all the time.” “Yeah. I know.” He scratched the back of his neck like he's nervous. But why..??

We went to the dining table and had breakfast. I had some fruits and juice because in Anvay’s words, “You're not better enough to eat instant noodles.” Who does that..?? Sometimes I regret staying at Anvay’s. But then I see the other side. He always takes care of me which I have been craving for past years. I mean I have my grandparents, but they live far from me and I can't burden them with all these stuff. Shlok told me that Anvay cares for me very deeply. I have seen it clearly in the hospital and now, too. I am very grateful for that. I owe him. I'll try to help him as much as I can, whenever he needs me.

Breakfast was good. We chatted and cracked some jokes. He doesn't joke often, but his sense of humour is amazing. I laughed a lot. But today he seemed a bit distant. I don't why, but he was little tensed. Maybe some business problems..?? I even tried to ask, but he changed the topic. I went to my room and showered and resumed my work on the design of the satellite. It's been many days since I worked on it. Damn accident..!!

I was just doing my work when suddenly the laptop was snatched away from me. I startled and frantically looked up only to find Mishti standing there in all her glory with anger evident on her face. O.o. I'm in trouble which must be as deep as Pacific Ocean. I smile sheepishly. “Hi Mishti. How are you..??” She looked amused. “Two days ago, I was very fine. But then I got a call from my friend that my best friend has met with accident and was in critical condition. So, would you like to explain this to me..??” Oh no.

Don't. Don't even try to ask me about what happened earlier. I need a lawyer to file a case of domestic violence against Mishti. Will it be alright if I don't have any proof for the mental torture that I received..?? Please help me. Kya dekh ke aisi dost de di bhagwan..?? The nation wants to know..!! Jawab to aap ko dena hi padega. Aur… My conversation suddenly interrupted by none other than Mishti and Shlok. They went to Mishti's office. Isn't her office in Banglore..?? Why is she visiting the Mumbai center..?? Whatever it is, I don't care. Because now it's time for me to rise and fight for myself. I can't let them do this to me. I have to… “Abe oye.. Chal aaja. Tujhe ek kaam karna hai.” Hey, my courage..!! Where are you..?? Did you just leave me when I needed you the most..?? Yeh ladki mujhe kacchi chaba jayegi..!! “Ha bol.” “I got to know that there is a ball at your office, the day after tomorrow.” I opened my mouth, but she continued without waiting me to reply. “You're going to be there.” “Yeah. I'm going there with Shlok.” “No. You're going there with someone else.” “Why..?? Why can't I go with Shlok..??” “Because I'm going with my boyfriend.” She grinned and looked at Shlok, who smiled in return. I rolled my eyes. Again..!! “Ha thik hai. To tum dono chale jao. Main nahi ja rahi.” “No. You're going -" I opened my mouth to argue, but Mishti cut me even before I say something. "No arguments. You're going with Vivaan. He's a very good person and a friend of Shlok. He's in the execution team from Raichands’.” “Okay.” I sighed. I don't have any other option than agreeing.

Today is the day when the ball is being organised. I'm so excited. I'm just going through my clothes, trying to decide what to wear. Though I don't have many options because I have never been to this kind event before. I usually have casual clothes and some traditional dresses and like that. Shlok entered the room followed by Mishti. “Aakriti yaar..!! You're not ready..?? If my memory is not deceiving me, then I remembered telling you to get ready half an hour ago.” “Yeah, but I was just deciding what to wear. I think this dress will do. What do you think..??” I held the dress high in the air showing it to Mishti. It is a plain dark blue knee length dress with a golden belt on the waist. It looks simple and elegant. “Are you seriously considering this to wear in a ball..??” “Why..?? Isn't it fine..??” “Oh God Aakriti..!! It is a ball..!! You can't wear something like this to a ball..!!” “But why..??” I whined. “I have to wear a dress right..!! Then this is a dress. And I don't have any other dress. So, I'm going to wear this. That's final and I don't have any option.” Phew. Got a well point at correct time. Or else I would have to wear something which Mishti likes. “Shlok. What did I tell you..??” Mishti gave a victorious smile to Shlok. Shlok glared at me. “Remember one thing very clear. Don't ever try to place a bet against me.” Shlok mocked Mishti and again glared at me. “What..??” “Shlok and I placed a bet about what you will wear. And of course, I won. I said that you'll wear the only dress that you have and won't even try to look like a girl.” This is it. “What do you mean by that, huh..?? I am a girl..!!” “You are, baby. But only your body. Not mind. Uparwale ne galti se ladke ke badle ladki bana diya hai tujhe.” I don't have any other option than glare at her. She's not right. It's just I've grown up in an environment full of boys. My every college had majority boys. So, it's like I'm not used to think like a typical girl. “And I knew that I'm gonna win, so I've already bought a dress for you.” I sighed. Now there's no way out.

"Okay. Now you can open your eyes." I opened my eyes and looked in the mirror. Who's this girl..?? Is this really me..?? I can't believe my eyes..!! “How's this..?? Do you like it..??” Mishti asked holding the brush in her hand, satisfied by her work. “Don't you think this is too much..?? Maybe I'm overdressed. I look like I'm going with the host.” She smiled and mumbled “You never know..!!” “What do you mean..??” “Nothing.” Her ringtone interrupted us. Mishti accepted the call. “Okay.... No, no. She's coming.” “Chal, he's here.” Okay. Now I'm nervous. What if I trip and make a fool of myself in front of everyone..?? Anvay will also be there right..?? Shit. What will I do..?? “Don't worry girl. Everything will be fine. Now go. He's waiting outside.” “Agar kuch hua na, to aaj ki raat teri aakhri hogi. Dekh lena. ” I threatened her. “Ha meri ma. Now go.” I descended the stairs and got out of the house. Someone was standing leaning on a luxurious black car. I couldn't see to his face because his back is facing me. Maybe he is Vivaan. “Um.. Excuse me..!!” He turned to face me. I was shocked would be understatement. It's him.
