A Daring Step

Aakriti's POV :-

I ran to the door of my office and saw the clock. 9:03. Phew...!! I wiped imaginary sweat from my forehead. On time..!! Or else Suhana wouldn't have left me from her regular teasing the whole day. She says that Anvay never tolerates latecomers except me. I agree that Anvay doesn't tolerate latecomers, but I've been late only twice or thrice till now and I always have valid reason(!) for being late. Still, once he punished me for being late. I had to do overtime. That is a different thing that Anvay refused to leave me alone in the office building and stayed with me and even came to drop me home that day, but still. So there is no chance of Suhana being right. But thank God, Shlok is not here. Or else he would also support Suhana. Work at execution center has been started and Shlok has been very busy setting up the schedule and work pattern for the employees of Raichand's. We haven't talked since three days. But Suhana is keeping me company, so I don't exactly feel left out.

So, today is the day when I execute my vicious plan. I have applied for a three day leave. Usually, how this system works is I apply to ISRO for leave and they approve for it. Then they notify the company's HR department about my leave. Now, my application has been approved and they will notify Raichand's HR department but as Meera is the incharge of these communications with other companies, I've told her to notify them on the day when I leave. I've taken all these precautions because of Anvay. After that accident, he has grown to be very protective of me. After I discharged from the hospital, he didn't let me go home for a week. But the day after the ball, I had to leave because of that awkwardness.

The awkwardness was because of what happened on the night of ball. We came home from the ball. I was so hungry because "The Great Anvay" did not let me eat all those fancy food. In his words, "The doctor has instructed to not to let you eat all those heavy food. So, you won't eat anything here other than salads. I'll get you something to eat once we reach home." I was going to protest, but he cut me even before I can start. "Still if you can't stop yourself from eating, remember that I'm also not going to eat anything. We'll eat together."  And he had his chefs prepare some khichdi for both of us at home and then walked me to my room. I thanked him for everything that he has done for me. He had that cute little smile on his face that I've grown to love and suddenly kissed me on the cheeks and said, "No need to thank me Aakriti. I do this because I care for you." And with that, he left me standing there wide eyed and with stunned expressions on my face. The next day, I packed all my stuff and left his house before he woke up. I left a note saying "Thank you for every single thing that you have done for me. I don't know how will I repay you for all this. Yours, Aakriti." And that day in his office, kya li hai usne meri... Boss, I was terrified..!! The Anvay that I knew was sweet, caring, and never spoke to me in the manner that he did on that day. Yeah, he apologized the next day, but still. He refrained me from going anywhere late at night and told me to inform him before going out of the city, and he'll accompany me there. Because of this, I don't want him to know that I've applied for the leave. If he gets to know about it, he'll ask me all kind of questions and will get to know about my plan and certainly won't let me do it. So, tonight I'm leaving.

I reached my office and as usual went to greet Suhana. "Morning Suhana..!!" "Morning." I frowned. "Why this sukha sukha morning..??" "Arey, today we are having a very important meeting with lawyers and Board of Directors in order to discuss the expansion plans. Boss has me on hook for two days and he too is very busy because of that." "Oh. So when is the meeting?" I asked her. She checked her watch and replied "In half hour and will be continued for almost for the whole day. Why..??" "Nothing..!!" I was jumping from the inside because if the meeting will be going on for the whole day, I won't be facing Anvay anytime soon. And the chances of him getting to know about my plans will be very less. "Okay Suhana, see you in the lunch break." I got out of her office and let out a restrained scream. "Why are you so much happy..??" O.o. Here he comes. I turned around and he was standing there looking devilishly handsome as always. "Um...Nothing..!! Just happy that I'll finally have Suhana's homemade halwa today." I lied. He smiled and suddenly came dangerously close to me and whispered in my ears "Good morning Aakriti." "G-Good Morning Anvay." I stuttered. I don't know why but his presence always affects me in this way. My heart starts beating faster like trying to break out of my rib cage. My mind gets in a frenzy and can't think of anything else other than him. "How are you doing today..??" "F-Fine" I tried to smile. "Good." "Um.. If you don't have any work, Can I go to my cabin now..??" "Sure." I ran to my cabin as soon as he said it without making any eye contact with him. Because I know that if I make eye contact with him, I will lost control on myself and get pulled in the depths of those stormy eyes. At first sight, his eyes seem black, but if you look closer, his eyes are the darkest brown with specks of Hazel in them. They always pull me to them and I can see the storm of different emotions swirling in them.
