Chapter seven: Words

Words can either build you or brake you. We don't even know the magnitude of the power they hold. Specially negative words. I believe words don't really get lost in the wind, they're sound made from us, and sound is the energy things or in this case, our vocal chords produce when they vibrate. It requires a medium for propagation, so it keeps traveling as a wave as long as there is something to resonate with. Even if it's not as fast as the light, no matter how long it takes, it gets there.

What if we are the medium?

How many times a day do we throw our words away? We say mean things to others and to ourselves. We don't think about the consequences, not for ourselves, and certainly not for others. These words bring negative energy into our vibration and affect us on a physical level. The Bible tell us that life and death are in the power of the tongue. And I try to be as much of a man of science as an open minded man of faith.

Our emotional scars usually last a lot longer than our physical ones. This was the case for Benjamin, my high school classmate. We never thought that he would be able to do that, but he did.

I guess not even we know what we're capable of until we're pushed to the brink. And today something called out to him from a dark place, he snapped, his soul couldn't take any more. I guess events like the one we just lived trough just take out the best and worst of us.

I heard it on a small radio scanner. Today he went into our old high school, he didn't even knew the students; after all we had already graduated... But that didn't stop him.
Someone had to take the blame, so at lunch time he committed suicide, but not before he made sure to take at least about twenty students and teachers with him.

Obviously people are talking about the horrendous tragedy and about him being a monster, but what they didn't know it's how he had struggled with abusive parents and how he was bullied in school, or even the fact that the teachers mistreated him.

I'm not excusing what he did, but it's easier to just point fingers instead of assuming responsibility or take fault.

He had demons all right, and he lost the battle. But why did no one help him on time? It's been more than three years, and he was still dealing with all that by himself? He didn't do anything good, sure, but wasn't he also a victim of a culture passed down to generations. We talk about being equals and say no to racism, and even do marches against bullying, but did it help him?

I wished I would've known beforehand, I'm just as guilty as they are. I could've at least said something, I guess my words would be in vain now.

Author's note:

Double update for my lovelies!!! 😘

Did you know that sound is both a physical and phycological process?

If you want to know more about how words affect us physically as much as phycologically, read about Japanese scientist, Masaru Emoto who performed some of the most fascinating experiments on the effect that words have on energy in the 1990’s.
