Hey everyone! Just so you know, this is just some random story that popped into my head. I have an idea of where I want it to go, but I'm not sure if it's going to go that way just yet. Hopefully you guys like it!

Being on the cross-country team was not keeping me far enough ahead of this guy like I wanted. I was going at my top speed and somehow he was still managing to keep up with by at least two feet. I couldn't afford to trip and fall like stupid girls did in the movies. I mentally slapped myself for being in the middle the middle of the woods at one in the morning anyway. What the hell was I thinking? It was so dark in here I was surprised that I wasn't running into anything. Although I was a cross-country runner, I wasn't very good at being coordinated. I slowed down once I saw I was getting close to street lights, but I didn't completely stop running. I stopped when I was directly under a street light and looked back. No one was there. I guess I did out run him. I breathed heavily and turned around, walking slowly back to my house. I pushed my hair that was plastered to my forehead out of my face and put it up with a hair tie I conveniently had on my wrist. My long hair glided through my fingers as I put it up, and I ended up letting it fall on my back instead of throwing it on my shoulder, which is what I normally did.
When I got to my house I went around the back entrance, climbing a tree to get into my bedroom window. I managed to climb in silently and sat on my bed right away, dead tired from the sprinting I was just doing. My heart was still beating erratically even though my breathing had returned to a somewhat normal pace. I sighed and inched off my bed, opening my bedroom door as quietly as I could. Even though my room was air conditioned, the rest of the house was even colder. As a result, I was whacked with cold air when I stepped into the empty dimly lit hallway. I lightly stepped down the steps, and into the kitchen. I walked over to the fridge and pulled out a bottle of water and eagerly drank it all without a second thought. I tossed the now empty bottle in the trash and grabbed another. I walked over to the sink and tossed it onto my head, the cold water feeling good as it wet my hair. It didn't hit me until I emptied the bottle that I could have just used sink water to do that. I shrugged and tossed that bottle in the trash as well and started to make my way back upstairs. Before I could back to the refuge of my room, I found my brother standing in the hallway with his arms folded. I felt a smirk come onto my face, and it wasn't the kind of smirk that people got on their face when something was funny. It was one of those, 'Can-we-not-mention-this-to-mom-and-dad' kind of smirks. I heard him sigh as I came to stand in front of him. Why did he have to catch me every time I snuck out? I heaved a sigh of my own, crossing my arms across my chest, copying his stance. "Cassidy, seriously, I'm getting tired of catching you sneaking out." He kept his voice low.
"And I'm tired of you catching me. So why don't you mind your own business?"
"Well if I didn't hear you sneak out the window every night, and then maybe I wouldn't have to mind your business. I swear, if I catch you again-"
"You'll what? Tell Mom and Dad? Go ahead." I was bluffing of course but I knew he wouldn't do it. He wouldn't betray me like that. He clicked his tongue and I saw him shrug a whatever.
"Good night Cas." Was all he said, and he slipped into his room one door down from mine. I shrugged his behavior off and entered my room, making sure I closed the door behind me. I flopped onto my bed, and picked up my cell phone off the side table next to my bed. I clicked the touch screen and it lit up immediately, showing that I had 4 unread text messages. One of them was from Jason, a guy that I messed around with for fun. Another was from Paul, another guy I messed around with for fun. The other two were from the same person, and a number I didn't recognize. I clicked the read button to open the text. I had to re-read both of them a couple times. This person-this person I didn't know was threatening me. I laughed and threw my phone onto my bed before I heard something come crashing through my bedroom window-which I had failed to close. Shit. I was great at sneaking in. I quickly got up, to see a rock with a note attached to it. I was going to pick it up when I heard another crash in the house. What was going on?
I opened my bedroom door to see my brother in the hall. He looked back at me and scowled at me angrily, like I had done something.
"What's going on?" I whispered to him, swallowing a lump in my throat. He put his finger to his lips, the universal 'Shhh' gesture. I kept my mouth shut and listened downstairs. Someone was in here. I quickly ran into my room, and grabbed my phone, dialing 911 with shaken fingers. I ran back to my brother's side, now my parents were out here as well.
"Hello?"
"Someone is in our house!" I said into the phone as soon as the other person picked up.

Ok, that's the first chapter.I know it's short, but the third chapter will be longer, I promise. Chapter 2 will probably be short like this one. I would really appreciate it if you guys vote/commented and all that jazz. Or even if you don't like it tell me please. Maybe you could give me some suggestions, but please don't be rude about it.
Vote & Comment plz! :)
