“Thanks for coming Eli.” I said as I got settled into his car. After I got the news that Noah wanted me to come over, I called Eli right away and asked him to come with me even though Noah wanted me to come alone. There was no way that I would go to his place alone ever again though.

“I really want to see who this pathetic loser is. If he lays a hand on you—“

“Eli, don’t do anything too drastic, please? I’m just giving him his keys.”

“If it were that simple then he wouldn’t have asked you to come alone. What the hell are you doing with his keys anyway? Were you planning on going back? Oh, where do I turn?”

“Left.” I said ignoring his questions. I didn’t really know why I took his keys. Maybe I took them for revenge reasons, but I really wasn’t sure. Eli turned left and didn’t ask any more questions. We were quiet the rest of the way except for when I was giving him directions. When we got there, I reached for the door handle, clasping it but not pushing it open yet. “Um, Eli, stay here? Okay?”

“What? You asked me to come over to your house, get you, and come with you here for your protection, and now you want me to stay in my car while you go in there?”

“Yes.” I said simply. Eli sighed loudly.

“Whatever. Just hurry up. Oh, maybe we should have some kind of signal just in case he tries something.”

“He won’t. If his gang leader isn’t involved, then he won’t try anything.”

“Pathetic.” Eli laughed. “Who the hell is the gang leader anyway?” he held his hand up. “Oh wait, you can’t tell me that either right? All this damn secrecy. Why can’t you just tell me?”

“Because if I tell you you’ll probably be in even more danger than you’re already in.”

“Danger? Ha, I laugh in the face of danger. Ha, ha, ha.” I narrowed my eyes and got out of the car.

I knocked on the apartment door lightly, hoping he wouldn’t hear it and I could just put the keys down on the mat and leave. As soon as I was done thinking that, the door opened revealing Noah. I held out my hand right away to give him his keys, but he shook his head and stepped aside, as if he wanted me to come in. I ignored the feeling in my stomach and walked in, trying my best not to show any fear and turned around when I thought I’d stepped in far enough. Noah closed the door behind us and gestured for me to sit on the couch.  I breathed out some air and I sat down on the cushion the furthest I could get from him. He sat down next to me, but was careful not to come too close.

“So, how’ve you been?” Noah asked. “Hanging out with you and Chelsea was really nice. I kind of miss you guys.”

“Miss us? You practically were spying on us the entire time! You should’ve just died in that stupid accident.”

“It wasn’t the whole time…I just ran into Chris one day, and he told me that he’d give me money if I just gave him info on you guys. As we started hanging out more and more he just gave me even more money. So…yeah.”

“So you faked our friendship for money?” I stood up.

“How is that any different from what you’ve done? Chris told me everything about you. How you’d sleep with guys to make them think you were interested in them just to lure them in, and—“

“I realized that that was wrong!” I yelled. “And I stopped! Now you have your keys, so I’m leaving. You can lose my number, don’t ever call me again. You’re just sad and pathetic—“
