I jumped violently when I heard the door being pushed open. I knew it was Noah without looking, but I looked over in his direction anyway, sizing him up. He didn’t look dangerous, but he certainly could be. I was so stupid. I couldn’t just judge anyone on their looks whether they were dangerous or not. Now I was just really mad at myself for not listening to Paul. He had told me not to be alone with Noah if I could help it. And what did I do? I walked right on over intentionally.  Noah looked at me like he wanted to comfort me, but didn’t know what to say. When he realized I was looking back at him, he went into the kitchen. I heard him fumbling around in there for a couple minutes before he came back out with a couple mugs.

“It’s chilly out there, so I made you some hot chocolate.” He smiled. I didn’t return the smile and stared at the mug venomously. “You had the package for the hot chocolate on the counter, so I figured that that was what you wanted.” He still had the mug stretched out for me to take. I threw my hand up, colliding with the mug, causing him to drop it on the floor. “Cassidy, what the—“

“I’m not drinking anything you make for me! You’ll probably drug it or something.” He looked back at me like I was crazy.

“What are you talking about?” he asked me managing to look surprised at the same time.

“Don’t give me that crap. Chris—the guy you just had in here, happens to be a gang leader. There’s no way you can know him without having connections to drugs! You probably drugged my hot chocolate, didn’t you? And you’ve been drugging Chelsea too, right?” he stared back at me, unable to even speak. The only sounds coming from him were his stuttering. “Well, I have you all figured out. We’re done. Don’t call me ever again, or I’ll call the police and report you.” I grabbed my coat that was on the arm of the couch and started towards the door.

“Cassidy—“he’d regained his ability to speak. Not only that, but he reached for my arm. I spun around and punched him in the face with everything I had. He was totally caught off guard, and stumbled backwards a little bit. “This is ridiculous Cassidy!” I backed towards the door, reaching my hand behind my back to grab the doorknob.

“You’re ridiculous. “ I shot back at him. I wasn’t about to turn my back on him. Not now.

Noah just stood there, not moving an inch. i grasped the doorknob, turned it, and swung it open. I turned around to run but ran into something hard and fell to the ground on impact. I looked up to see Chris standing there with a smirk on his face. My blood ran cold as I scooted away from him and stood up. I thought he was gone! I turned back to look at Noah for a second; it wasn’t as if I was going to escape now. Noah had a smirk on his face as well, and his arms crossed. Was he in on this?  Suddenly the door slammed and I turned back around to see Chris inside the apartment completely. He locked the door, took off his coat and just looked at me. I swallowed hard and backed towards the kitchen, so I could see both of them.

“How longs it been Cassidy, two, three months?” Chris asked me. I didn’t answer. I was too scared to. Chris laughed. “What’s wrong? Don’t have anything to say to me? Well, that’s ok.” He leaned against the door. “You had plenty to say to Noah, who is our new recruit by the way. But you won’t tell anyone that, will you?” I swallowed hard again and my eyes nearly popped out of my head as I turned my head to Noah. He shrugged when I looked at him and I turned back to Chris, not wanting to believe this.

“You’re making this up…you’re a liar.”

“Have I ever lied Cassidy? Hmm?”

“All the time, when you hurt people.”

“Exactly who am I lying to? It’s not like police come up to me and ask if I hurt this person. And don’t act like you’re a goody goody, because you really aren’t. You were a part of…us for a while.” He paused, as if choosing his words carefully. “At least until Chase came around, who I’m sure you haven’t slept with yet, right?” I clenched my fists.
