Fifth and sixth period went by. But then seventh period happened. I had my elective seventh period, it was art. I usually love art, but that all changed today. Our teacher, Mrs. Fisher, assigned us table partners and they're also our partners for the entire year.
"Hello class! Please direct your attention to the seating chart displayed on the board!" she said in a way to cheery tone.
I turned towards the whiteboard she was talking about. It took me a minute to find my name, but when I did, I didn't like what I saw. I sat at the back of the room with someone named Kellin Quinn and Brendon Urie. Kellin must be new this year because I've never heard of him before. Great, just another person to hate me. I started walking back to the table when Bob tried to trip me.
"You can't trip me that easily Bob. I've been through three years of it. My reflexes have sharpened."
"Eh, I thought I'd at least give it a shot. You always seemed to be preoccupied staring at some guy."
I rolled my eyes as I turned to walk back to my table. Kellin had slightly long black hair with a fringe. He was wearing a Green Day shirt. I have spotted an emo in its natural habitat. He seems like someone that wouldn't hate me. At least not as much as everyone else does. I hope.
"Oh, uh, hi. I'm Kellin."
"I'm Ryan. It's nice to meet you. Are you new this year?"
"Yeah."
"What school did you come from?"
"I used to go to the private school downtown but my mom decided that she'd rather use my tuition money on herself than me. So I go here now."
"That sucks man. Sorry about that."
"It's fine."
"So do you know Tyler Joseph?" I asked.
"Yeah we used to be best friends," he's definitely someone I'll be friends with if he was best friends with Tyler.
"Really? Josh, his boyfriend, and I are best friends."
"That's cool."
An awkward silence settled in as we waited for class to start.
"Hey, you can sit with us at lunch tomorrow if you want. I mean, you don't have to. It was just a suggestion. You could already be friends with someone else. Man, I'm gre-" he cut me off.
"I'd love to sit with you and your friends, Ryan," he said with a smile.
I gave him a smile. I wonder if he'd want to come to Josh's house with me and Trick after school to see Tyler. I'll ask Josh first. I wouldn't want to invite someone over to his house without asking. I have some manners. Sometimes. Only sometimes.
I slid into the seat next to him and realized Brendon hadn't shown up yet. The late bell rang and Mrs. Fisher started taking attendance.
"George Ross?" she asked.
I cringed at the mention of my father's name. "Just Ryan, ma'am." She smiled at me and wrote something down on her clipboard. I assumed it was a correction to my name.
She got through a couple more names when the door flew open to reveal a Brendon Urie. "You're late Mr. Urie. It's only the first day," she said in an annoyed tone.
"Whatever," he mumbled as he walked back to our table.
He seemed to be in a bad mood but when he got closer to the table, I realized something. He had been crying. His eyes were red and puffy and his cheeks were tear stained.
"Hey, Brendon. Are you okay?" I asked.
"Of course. Why do you ask. I'm just peachy," he sounded slightly annoyed. I could tell he was lying. It was sort of obvious when he started rubbing his massive forehead.
"I can tell that you were just crying."
"I wasn't crying. I don't know where you got that from," he turned his head away from me.
"Whatever you say," Kellin said as he turned back to me.
"Attention! Attention please!" Mrs.Fisher yelled. "These will be your sets for the entire year," groans came from various spots around the room, "Oh hush. The people you are sitting with will also be your partners," more groans came from around the room.
"At least you're here," I said to Kellin.
"Yeah."
"Well, since we're forced to work together, we should at least try to be nice. I'm just saying," Brendon said.
"Why are you actually trying to be nice Brendon?" I asked.
"Because I need to get good grades so my parents let me play sports. Don't expect it to continue outside of this classroom."
"I wouldn't of in the first place." I never noticed how beautiful Brendon was until now. I haven't seen him this close to me since seventh grade. When we were still best friends. He had a huge forehead and beautiful lips. I wonder how they would feel against mine.
"Ryan!" Kellin said as he slapped my arm.
"What!"
"We have to work on a project idea. Do you have any ideas."
"Nope. What about you Brendon?"
"Nope," he looked down to his lap and started playing with his fingers.
"Okay, well we have like twenty minutes left in class so you wanna do homework, Ry?" Kellin asked.
"Yeah sure," I looked over to Brendon to ask him but I saw tears running down his face. "Brendon are you sure you're okay?" I asked.
"I'm just peachy," he said as he pushed his chair back and stalked out of the room.
"Does anyone want to go get Brendon," Mrs. Fisher asked. No one answered so she got up and left to go get him.
"I wonder what's up with him," Kellin said.
"Yeah, me too."
Mrs. Fisher returned to the room about ten minutes later Brendon-less.
"He's gone," Kellin whispered to me.
"Mrs. Fisher probably took him to the principal's office."
"Good point."
A/N Oooooooo drama. Ok well I can't write. Thanks for reading this trash. Why do you read it though? It's so bad. This is slightly under 1000 words and I'm to lazy to try and get to 1000 so yeah. Ok well I'm done. Bye!
