The series begins with the introductory to filming as Patrick begins to speak about the documentary that is being filmed inside his Coffee Shop about the balance of work, social life, and college for young adults.
PATRICK "I think this is an awesome opportunity we could not just pass up! I also THINK thaaaaaatttt.....You'll come to find that this is not just your ordinary Coffee Shop you know?
It so much more than that...-"
AS PATRICK IS BEING FILMED INSIDE YOU CAN SEE A CRACKHEAD TAPPING ON THE GLASS.
PATRICK STARES OVER.
CRACKHEAD "Hey bitch, let me in"
PATRICK LOOKS BACK AT CAMERA AND CONTINUES CONVERSATION.
PATRICK "Really so much more than that...a place were e you want to come in, it has a...sorta of a homey feel to it you know what I mean?! (PATRICK LAUGHS NERVOUSLY)."
(AS PATRICK IS SPEAKING THE INTERVIEW SCENE CUTS INTO PATRICK JIGGLING THE KEY TO OPEN UP THE COFFEE SHOP AT 4:00 AM )
Patrick talking to camera crew as he is opening the door.
PATRICK "I've got the key to the city! (LAUGHS)"
INTRO to "The Coffee Shop"
Patrick is the first one to arrive per usual.
PATRICK "My name is Patrick Nichols and I am the proud owner of the Coffee Shop (confident and proud voice ) located here in Chicago. I think you'll come to find that this is one of the greatest coffee shops you will ever be in. You will not find such dedicated staff as mine, I can guaranteeeeeeee you that -" (AS PATRICK IS SPEAKING, EMPLOYEES SLOWLY MAKE THEIR WAY INSIDE THE SHOP TO SWIPE IN, THE FIRST EMPLOYEE BEING ELIZABETH)Evil Diana storming in: (Not realizing she is being filmed) "Welcome to another day in Hell...(ELIZABETH LAUGHS) nah I'm just (beep)ng with you"
Adam (ANOTHER EMPLOYEE) laughs.
Patrick laughs nervously looking back as he overheard, the camera is still recording: "Hahaha as you can see (LAUGHING NERVOUSLY), we also like to have great sense of humor, it's good to laugh a little you know (NERVOUS LAUGH, STOPS...STARES DEEP INTO THE CAMERA).
PATRICK "As I was saying, we really do have a dedicated staff here. Each and every single one of them is what makes this Coffee Shop unique, and I truly believe that. We have my most trusted employee, Adam (SCENE GOES TO MINI COMPILATION OF ADAM'S WORK ETHIC), he is here on time everyday, is very responsible and has been working with me for the past 4 years."
(A SMALL AWKWARD MOMENT OF SILENCE)
PATRICK CONTINUES "We also have two Elizabeths at this location (CAMERA FACES PATRICK)."
AWKWARD SILENCE. CAMERA STARTS FILMING EACH EMPLOYEE AS THEY WALK IN.
"Then there's, Eric, Josh and Tiffany (PATRICK SAYS TIFFANY'S NAME IN GIRLY VOICE FOR NO REASON), also great peeps. And then we have Renee who is a very quiet employee. The perfect woman am I right?! (GOES FOR A HIGH FIVE, GETS LEFT HANGING FOLLOWED BY AWKWARD SILENCE) oh I'm just teasing (LAUGHS AGAIN), anyways they all pretty much get the job done here!"
PATRICK DOES A THUMBS UP. SCENE GOES BACK TO FILMING STAFF
PATRICK "We also like to think of ourselves here at the Coffee Shop as a company were people can have an opportunity to learn the basic skills of everyday life. As a matter of fact, we are looking to hire one more employee here, and I (point finger) happen to have an interview this morning."
