in elementary school, you were skipping stones across water
i threw a better one, we developed an instant rapport,

together through thick-and-thin of middle school -
always telling each other everything,

when high school brought unexpected ripples
and you fought with me because of our feelings,

leaving for another college, when we promised we'll be together
silent for four years, lost for the next four,

till the day you finally found your way home
and to the lake that first brought us together.

till the day you finally found your way homeand to the lake that first brought us together

ripples;
for like they are in water, there are some in our lives too.

A/N: Initially I was going to end the poem with different lines -

'till the day your body finally came home
and i mourned you by the lake that brought us together.'

kinda sad so i decided to end on a more hopeful tone above.
share your thoughts. ^-^
