~Flashback~
It's been a week since you moved from America to Thailand. Your father had some sort of business opportunity, but you didn't really understand what it was for. You were only 4 at the time, so it was understandable, but you didn't really like the change in scenery.
You and your mom were at a park playing on the playground and having fun. When your mom's phone started ringing, she told you to keep playing on your own while she turned away for a bit. As she was walking away to get some distance between her and the other screaming/laughing children that were there, you started getting scared. You didn't like being too far from your parents, so you tried to run after her. As you were about to get off of the playground, you tripped over something that your foot didn't go over. Once you were on the ground, you started tearing up about to cry. That was until a young boy came running up to you to check if you were ok. "คุณโอเคไหม? (Are you ok?)" He asked. You didn't understand him since he spoke in Thai, so you just looked at him, confused yet still teary eyed.
As he was helping you up, your mom finally saw you. She came over and checked if you were ok. You only had a little scrape on your knee, so you were fine. Luckily, your mom was able to speak Thai fluently, so she was able to tell the boy who helped you 'thank you'. She then asked you in English if you wanted to keep playing for a while, and you said yes. Hearing this, the boy looked at your mom. "You speak English?" He asked. "Yes," your mother said. "We moved from America last week." He made an 'oh' with his mouth, then smiled. "I can speak English too." Just then, his mother called him over. "Oh, I have to go now. It was nice meeting you two!" He waved, then started walking away. "It was nice meeting you, too," your mother said. "And thank you again for helping my daughter." The boy turned around and bowed, then once again started walking towards his mother.
~Time Skip~
It's now been 3 months since your meeting with the boy, and almost every time you went to that park, he would be there as well. You learned that his name was Kunpimook Buwhakul, but since it was a difficult name for you at the time, he told you to just call him BamBam. The two of you grew closer and played with each other often. Sometimes, when he didn't have school, you would have a play date either at his house or your house.
Since you were going to start Kindergarten soon, he would teach you what he could when you were together. You already knew some letters in the alphabet, as well as a few shapes and numbers, so it wouldn't be that hard to teach you more things. You could now write easy and basic words like your name, mom, dad, etc. The only thing you had trouble with was numbers. You could count, sure, but when BamBam had you try some simple addition and subtraction equations, you would always end up being a number off somehow. You would get a little frustrated, but still tried really hard. "No, the answer is 7, not 6." He would say, correcting your answer again. You put your head on the table, thinking if you should just give up. Who knew math could be so difficult? "What's wrong, ลูกแมว (kitten)?" That was the nickname he came up with for you. You had told him that you wanted a nickname like he did, so he told you he would think of one. You picked your head up and looked at him. "It's too hard." You whined. He just smiled. "Don't worry," he said. "You'll get better at it soon."
~End of Flashback~
"B-... BamBam?" He looked at you and smiled. "Yeah, that's me. It's nice to meet you." Does he not remember you? "BamBam, it's me, (Y/n)." His head tilted, as if a bit confused. "You would call me ลูกแมว (kitten), remember?" Realization flashed in his eyes. "(Y/n)? What happened to you? You just suddenly left without a word! Are you ok?" Remembering what happened, your mood dropped a bit, but you didn't let it show. "I'm fine," you said while faking a smile. "And sorry for suddenly leaving, it was kind of a last minute thing." Though it was partially true, you still felt bad for lying to your old childhood friend.
Jinyoung looked between the two of you, a little confused, but you noticed. "So I get it that you two know each other already?" He asked. "Yeah!" BamBam exclaimed. "She was like a little sister to me." After explaining to Jinyoung a bit of your past with BamBam, you finally got started with your math homework. "Still suck at math I see." BamBam snickered. You just rolled your eyes and ignored him. After about half an hour of finishing your homework and studying for your math exam tomorrow, BamBam asked the question that you were somewhat dreading to hear. "Hey, so how are your parents doing?"
