A never ending replay of the same old music playing in the background of our drive. To where?. That was yet to be discussed.

It was slightly cold and expected due to being in New York, but in Australia I only have summer clothes and that most definitely will not keep me warm for the duration of time I'm here, and not mention the heavy rain that appeared out of nowhere which was as equally as depressing as me.

I still had to explain to Calum why I'm here, and I feel embarrassed about it. He probably has greater issues to deal with, and here I am prying my way into his reality. Without his consent.

"What's up Luke?-your friend okay?" And I turned my head quickly to look at his eyes in the mirror.

"Uh-sorry?"

"He sounded pretty upset?" Calum's deep chuckle filled the silence, changing gear on the highway to the incoming junction. He decided to drive since his friend was getting tired.

"Yeah-Just some disagreement" I convinced.
It's not that I don't trust Calum. I just didn't want to get into it right now.

"So then-Luke. Why the sudden need to come to New York?" Calum's companion asked. Jack he said it was.

I didn't really feel the need to explain so when Calum's told him to back off, I left a sigh of relief escape. The last seventy two hours have been hell.

And I lived with my family for twenty years of my life as my own private hell, from the comfort in my own home.

"Sorry... Jack over here can be a-little abrasive" and Jack slapped Calum's arm in response to his comment.

"A little abrasive huh?" His eyes piercing towards Calum's then back onto the road.

"No you're right. A lot" and he chuckled once more, this time almost to loud.

Then again. Men are noisy.

Sometimes...

"I'm here on a vacation..." A permanent one in that sense.

Calum shouldn't have to deal with my problems. I'm not just gonna unload my crap when he probably has his own.

"Oh-Okay..." Jack spoke, clearly suspicious by my direct un-detailed answer. But was I supposed to say?. I'm here to runaway from an arranged marriage my rich family is forcing me into, in Australia with my best friend I've known since I was a baby.

The less people know the better.

"So where are we off to?. Your grand parents house?"

"No-I'll put it in on the gps system" I smiled leaning over and typing the postal code into the bar, letting the annoying robot voice take over the silence for the time being.

Once the car had caught it's self into the intersection, Calum mentioned to me that we're heading back into the upper end of Manhattan.

"—Hey! Are you sure we're in the right area?"

"Yeah..."I couldn't really hide it could I. He already knew.

And it was silent when he pulled up in the valet.
A hotel member stood by ready to open the door. It was near enough six am. I didn't really want to explain.

"Uhh-Luke we're outside the plaza?!"He just stared back at me in the viewfinder, a shocked expression that noticeable was uncomfortable for me-as I now had to explain.

"Good morning Mister Hemmings" The guy had opened the door.

"Um-do you want to come inside? I can explain then?" I was hoping and praying Calum wouldn't think that I was some snobby rich kid-though it looks like that.

"Uh-are you sure. You don't need to do that just cause we gave you a ride" Calum awkwardly looked back at jack who was shocked at where we had parked, taking in the outside of the building. It wasn't exactly the best view as it was the first thing in the morning.

"Please—I don't want to be alone right now." I was honestly lonely right now. I didn't know what I was doing-or where I was going for that matter.

"Well—I mean—?" I looked back at him in the mirror I couldn't keep a cool front. I was scared. What my parents might do.

"Please-it doesn't have to be long, I'll give you gas money for the trip out for me" I awkwardly said looking back at the man who was stood with the door open for me.

"You okay with that jack?" Calum tapped his shoulder, as he was taking in the scenery before answering. " Yeah-duh—dude, c'mon". He laughed opening the passenger door as
I smiled back at Calum.

This was going to be some morning.
