Chapter Five

It was a half an hour of silence before we arrived on the inside of the castle walls. I slid down the tail of the dragon, and ran. “Wait, wait, wait!!” Davie called behind me. “Slow down, princess!” I didn’t listen. Up until he appeared right in front of me. “Cut. It. Out. I know you don’t trust me. I can see it in your eyes. But something tells me….” he smirked. “Something tells me that your brother will have a lot more work for me. Which means we’ll see each other a lot. And…it means that you have to get used to me princess because I really don’t like your attitude.” he crossed his arms.

“Move out of my way you leech.” I muttered, shoving him out of the way. Ten feet later he reappeared in front of me again.

“No. I don’t think you deserve me out of your way.”

“You’re acting like a child you worthless mother-”

“Ah, Synyra, David. I trust you took care of my sister?” I heard Jake say. David’s eyes faded into a dark blue as he spun around. In front of Jake. I watched him swallow.

“Y-yes…” he said in a faint whisper. I snickered behind him. He was terrified of Jake. Like everyone else.

Jake smiled a little. “Excellent! Now, come with me, Synyra. I’ve got the perfect goblin servant for you.” He gestured for me to follow him. I did so.

“Lance, Synyra. Synyra, Lance.” I nodded.

“Hi..” he whispered. He was younger than I expected. Purplish skin and dark onyx-colored eyes in almost perfect circles. I couldn’t help but stare. He was exactly my height, and his hair reached to his shoulders.

“Alright, why don’t you turn my little tomboy into an actual princess for me?” Jake asked. Lance nodded quickly, and Jake gestured for him to walk away. I followed behind him.

“Ah, now David, I have some plans for you…”

Great. Now the last guy on Earth I wanted to be seen with was going to be stuck with me? I was praying that Jake wouldn’t torment me in that way. Making me deal with Davie like that. All day, every day. Having to share rooms and such with him. I thought that was going to kill me.

“In here, your highness.” Lance whispered.” I followed behind him, and gasped at what I saw. And this was only one room of the castle. It was the size of a large apartment, or a small house. And absolutely beautiful. A white bed with what appeared to be silk sheets was off in one corner, and a blue circular rug larger than the bed. A vanity lay beside it covered in cosmetics. Two different wardrobes stood off to the side, and on the other side of the room was a desk. One where I could write or draw.

“Is this….mine?” I asked. Lance just nodded, and made me step in front of a mirror. He felt my hair and shook his head. Then he tilted me from side to side. Was I being judged?

“You’re hair is too stringy, and has split ends up to your waist, and it feels like piano wire. Shocker it’s not frizzed. You need to learn how to move in rhythm….with poise, grace a-”

“Are you gay, dude?” I asked, making my eyes small. “Because you sure do sound like it.”
