* * * Nikolasz's POV * * *
*knock**knock*
Umm...what....Now.
I opened my half asleep eyes and looked down at Emma. She looks even lovelier in the budding morning light. I smiled at her. It feels so good to wake up next to your mate.
"Hey, Nikolasz, the King requests your presence." My personal guard and best friend Justin, sounded at the door. He's the only one that will call me without titles, except when he lands the occasional blow during our sparing sessions. Then he always says, "I'm deeply sorry Prince Nikolasz, I thought as future king of the vampires you would be more prepared." With sarcasm dripping from his roguish grin.
"I'll be but a moment," I responded.
I don't want to leave you like this love, but I have to take care of 'dear dad.' He requires the ceremony of a proper farewell. I gently let her go and slipped out of the bed.
*sigh*
With a sense of purpose I quickly showered and dressed.
The sooner I deal with 'dear dad' the sooner I can make things right with Emma. She deserves so much more than what she has had to deal with until now. I want to show her that she will be happy with me, and not just because of our mate bond. I've always loved her courage and her willingness to put others before herself, and I want to be the one that does that for her.
I kissed her forehead before I swiftly left my private quarters adjoined by my office. See you later love.

* * * Emma's POV * * *
"Oh, Emmie thank God! Wake up sleepy beauty." Nicole's voice couldn't reach me in the darkness. She tried to shake my shoulder gently and than harder.
"Emmie. Emmie. EMMA!" Nicole's stern voice broke through the darkness.
"Niki?" I managed to mutter. My body felt like lead and my mind was a thick tangle of pine branches in a dark never ending forest. I wanted to clear the way to a clearing but the tiny pricks of pine needles kept me from going further.
I felt Nicole grab my wrist and drag me to the edge of the bed. Why can't I wake up already? Nicole needs me. She then sat me up and she swung my arm over her shoulder. My head lulled back, and I tried to lift it and failed.
"Come on Emma! Get UP!" Nicole started to shout.
The feeling my arms and legs started to get lighter. My head was still full of thick branches but it wasn't as dark anymore. I started to see outlines of the objects in the room.
"Uhhhh." I grunted. I tried to focus on the motions of standing. Nicole helped me take my first step. Walking got easier the more steps I took, and my vision slowly started to get clearer.
When we reached the bedroom door I was almost completely normal again. The door's ornate silver designs caught me attention. A large symbol of a single silver goblet with a intricate dragon base looked stunning against the oiled oak doors. Beautiful. My mind than became focused and cleared of the dark forest. OH. MY. GOD. Nikolasz is a vampire, and he killed mom! I'm not actually crazy....I sound crazy though...Should I tell Niki?
Nicole was talking to me and asking me questions, but I still couldn't speak. I think she's asking me those inappropriate sister questions to embarrass me. Should I tell her about Nikolasz or not? How can I hide the fact that I know how our mom died, for real? She was a monster, but she was still our mother. . . maybe this is for the best. She doesn't seem to be effected like me, she went through the same things but she took things so much better.
