Chaptet Two: The Talk

"So sweetie, I thought we should chat about this whole mermaid thing."

You think.

"Yes, I know this is a big change for you. You might be feeling angry, nervous, excited, or sad. Being a mermaid comes with lots of responsibilities but it can also be fun and exciting."

What kind of responsibilities?

"Well, keeping the secret of course-"

Wait I have to keep this a secret, I can't even tell Katherine!

"No Mia you must not tell anyone!"

Why?

"Because then word would get out and scientists would come and take you away and do a bunch of test, you would never be free again. Trust me, I know."

Fine. How do you know?

"That's what I was getting to. You know how I told you your father died in a car accident, well that's not true, he was a mermaid and some how word got out...he was taken away Mia."

What...is he still alive?

"I have no clue, I'm so sorry Mia."

We must find him!

"What are you talking about?!?!"

I'm talking about going to rescue Dad.

"No, we must not do that we could get caught, then they would test us."

We'll make a plan. But first where did they take him?

"The Marine Studies building."

The one here in Cape May?

"Yes."

So are you telling me my father has been here all this time and you haven't tried to save him.

"Don't get me wrong I love your father but I didn't want to loose you."

Oh...thanks Mom.

"No need to thank me your my daughter and I love you."
