I barely have the strength to stand on my own two feet, my eyes still blacked out from the strength of the light. once I regain my senses, my only thought is to rush to my brother's side where he lay crumpled on the floor, surrounded by piles of dust which used to be witches. "Cas, you ok in there?"
"We need to get...back to the bunker." was all he could manage through spits of blood. "Your brother's body is failing fast...I'm sorry."
I reach out an arm to lift him to him to his feet and quieten his futile apologies. By the time we make it back out to the car, I had formulated a plan; I left Cas in Dean's room to rest and heal and made a call to Sioux Falls...
"Jodie, I need your help, urgently, how fast can you make it over here?"
"As fast as is humanly possible, what is it you need?"
"I warn you, it's gonna sound weird..."
"When does it ever not with you two?"
"I need bodies from the local morgue, strong bodies, preferably devout church-goers, as many as you can..."
"Ok, I hope you are aware that this request will slow the journey time considerably..."
"Of course, take as long as you need."
"I hope you have a good reason for this. I'm gaguing by the tone of your voice that somebody close is dying, it better be that bad!"
"I can't really explain it properly over the phone, but yes, it is that bad."
Jodie found her way a lot faster than I had expected, I had just had enough time to clear the centre of the library to lay the bodies on the floor and explain my plan to Cas and Dean. I was relieved to see that Cas had aided Dean towards a full recovery from his injuries, and I could sense the smile in his voice when Dean checked in with me.
"So, a spot of old fashioned body stealing? That's a little below our pay grade, don't you think?" Dean Joked
I couldn't help but laugh, although; "I've a feeling we might not find someone strong enough to hold Cas though."
"There will at least be one, I'm sure, and one is all we need, just one lucky bastard just like Jimmy Novak who actually prayed for the privilege of being an an Angel Limosene . " He assured me.
"What happened to Angel condom?" I laugh
"Ah, you see, Castiel is an up-market sort of Angel..." He winks, I get the sense that this comment and gesture are both much more directed at Cas than at me.
"Are you alright?"
"Yeah, of course, starting to miss the action a little now though. Did you see what Cas did to Rowena?! Man, I wish I had been there to feel her explode in my face!!"
It suddenly struck me as odd to hear Dean talk of the event as though he had not been present, when he had been right in the centre of it. "I've got a sense that that's not the last we'll ever see of her, though...' I warned.
"First thing I'm gonna do when I get home is rid every single square inch of America of witches. Hate the slimy hags!" But then he looked at me sensibly for a moment; "How exactly are we gonna explain this deal to Jodie?"
"I have absolutely no idea!"
