"You'll be pleased to know that your brother is alive and well in here." Chirrped Was as he pulled up a chair to sit across from me at the bunker's strategy table. "In fact he's doing better than any human host I've ever known of." He stops to smile at me, and to catch his breath. "That is just testament to his strength, I suppose." He looked at me more closer then, like he'd noticed something he hadn't seen before. "Are you alright, Sam?"

I couldn't lie to him, even if it was the case that he wasn't wearing my brother's face. "Yeah, it's just a little weird talking about Dean like he's not in the room when he's sitting right in front of me."

"I know, Sam, I don't think I'm going to find it easy getting used to talking with his voice. And as for him not being here, he is here, and in fact, he can hear everything we're saying right now...And if you should ever need to talk with him, privately, I can arrange that anytime."

"How do you know he's alright?"

"He told me himself, Fine and dandy were his words exactly,"

"If you wouldn't mind, could I..?" I motioned vaguely into the distance, not certain how to finish what I wanted to say, although Cas seemed to know before I got there myself, like the good friend he's always been to me.

"Of course, Sam, Just a moment, please..." For a moment I saw Dean's eyes rolls back to the whites and I was afraid I might have lost them both for good, but Dean's eyes came back again, there appeared a certain light in the bright apple green eyes that made me certain it was Dean I was addressing this time. "Hey, Sammy, Don't you worry 'bout me, We'll find Cas another vessel and I'll be home again soon, and in the mean time, Cas will take good care of me."

"I know, I just wanted to hear it from you that you're ok, I don't want anything to happen to you."

"Sam, this is Cas we're talking 'bout, the guy gave up his whole damn world for me! I think he can be trusted to take care of me."

I laugh at the blunt nature of his comment, a topic so delicate seems so simple the way Dean explains it.

"What's it like up there, when it's Cas in the driver's seat I mean?"

"Why you asking?"

"Just curious..."

"It's like watching my whole life on TV, in the comfiest living room in all of existence."

"Gosh..." I breathe, Dean's eyes almost seem dead as he begins to speak again and I know it's no longer him behind them. I feel Dean slipping away from me then, I watch his eyes roll back behind his sockets as Cas reappears behind them. "I'm sorry, Sam, I can't keep the connection for very long, the firewalls I have to put up to keep your conversation private take an awful lot of energy. " He looks at me guiltily, but I see no crime in his actions.

"I've had long enough Cas...thank you, it seems he's quite happy letting you drive for a time..."

"I think even the best of us need a rest sometimes..." He says thoughtfully and then he looks over at my laptop, lying idle beside me."Should we be looking for a case? I fear the world might just come to a standstill if the winchesters ever stopped hunting."
