I woke up at around 10:00 am the next morning, and after having breakfast, began the taxing effort of unpacking. At around 11:30 I heard my doorbell ring. As I answered the door, I can face to face with my 4 familiar new neighbors.
We all agreed to attack separate rooms, but since my brothers had not yet arrived and had all their stuff with them, Ross and Rydel decided to help me unpack my boxes for my room. I unpacked my numerous amount of clothing, old yearbooks, picture albums, and collection of books and cds. My mom needed help unpacking the kitchen, so Rydel left to help her, leaving Ross and I alone in my room.
After opening all the boxes, I plopped down on the floor and began organizing all my things into separate piles. Even though I had spent many hours reminiscing while I had packed up everything at my old house, I couldn't help but transport back in time with all the memories that were in front of me. Ross saw me looking at old photo albums and came to sit next to me to take a look for himself.
"Woah, that's you?!" He practically shouted, "you look so different!"
Needless to say that 6th grade was a dark time for me, and my style and appearance had greatly upgraded since then. I was embarrassed Ross was seeing these horrific pictures of me, but he seemed to be enjoying himself. Besides, if he said I looked different from being extremely awkward and ugly, he must think I'm pretty now right?!
My thoughts were interrupted by a gasp as Ross pulled out old CDs from a box full of a wide range of musicians.
"You have the Pokemon, Backstreet Boys, and Jimmy Neutron soundtracks?!? These were my favorite growing up!!" He was basically screaming my ear off with his excitement.
"Haha yes! I listened to these 24/7 when I was a kid!" I replied.
Ross proceeded to pull out a Huey Lewis and the News, Aaron Carter, and Taylor Swift CD.
"You have quite a large array of musical taste" he said with a giggle.
"I love all types of music, from hardcore hip hop to country, to 80's hits!" I replied.
"I think that's awesome", he said,"Music is something I just feel so deeply, there is something so amazing about when a singer can hit a note perfectly or when lyrics are so meaningful..."
He looked over at me as those last words rolled off his tongue, and I saw how much he meant that. I sat there and just stared at his chocolate brown eyes, and I began to see how deep and sincere and intelligent he was. And boys like that my age don't come around everyday.
"Sorry, I'm totally rambling" he started to turn away and stand up, but stopped and turned to face me when I reached my hand out to touch his leg.
"No, it's crazy you say that because I feel the same way. I think that any song is good if an artist has amazing vocals, or when a band's harmonies all line up perfectly, it's something special."
Ross's eyes lit up and a smile began to form on his face as he began to sit back down, aligned across from me so he was looking directly at into my eyes and our legs were touching. Oh how that smile did things to me. I just couldn't help myself as I continued to look into his eyes, it was like this connection we were just starting to form had always been there. I never had known anyone who had felt that deeply about music as I did, and I found it extremely attractive.
Ross and I continued to pull out old CD's and share thoughts, memories, and laughs for about 3 hours on my bedroom floor. He had the greatest laugh, and his smile just made me melt. It was easily the most attractive thing about him. Though we had only just met the day before, I knew this boy and this connection were special, and I think he was beginning to think that too.
