After goofing off for about three hours, Ross and I buckled down and began to actually unpack. Turns out it was a lot more physically taxing than I thought. After about an hour I stopped and started to stretch.
"My back is killing me," I cried, "want to take a break? I can go grab us some snacks."
Ross happily agreed and I brought some Goldfish and waters upstairs to my room to snack on. When I set the bowl of Goldfish down and handed Ross a water, his eyes lit up.
"Gosh, I haven't had Goldfish in ages! I used to eat them constantly. Riker, Rocky, and I would toss them across the room and try to catch them in our mouths when we were little."
I giggled softly at how excited he was to see the little fish-shaped crackers.
"I used to demand that my mom buy me the colored ones because I was convinced they tasted better than the original." I said as Ross laughed.
"Here, go stand over there." I said to Ross and pointed at a distance of about ten feet away from where I was standing. He moved skeptically to the spot I pointed at and stood there, eyeing me with a smirk on his face. I quickly reached into the bowl of Goldfish and threw one in the air aligned with where his mouth was, and he reacted quickly, bent down and caught it in his mouth! We laughed and continued to exchange throwing back and forth to each other, but I wasn't very good at the catching part. Ross and I giggled and teased each other for bad throws and missed catches.
After a fun 10 minute break Ross and I got back to work and started to hang up my clothes on hangers to put in my walk-in closet, which I was pretty excited about considering my last closet was about a quarter of its size. I heard Ross gasp as he pulled out my red, three-quarter inch sleeve Avengers shirt.
"This is the sickest shirt ever, you like these movies?!"
I laughed because I seemed to continue to shock Ross with my taste in music, and apparently now clothing.
"Yes! I love superhero movies! The Avengers came out three days before my birthday two years ago, so my mom got me that shirt to wear when I saw it."
"That's so awesome, you're like the coolest girl I know." He said as I looked into his eyes; he really meant that, and it meant a lot to me to hear him say that.
I could have just about died right there. A gorgeous boy with tan skin and a perfect smile just told me I was the coolest girl he knows.
I blushed and replied, "Thanks, you're such a nice guy."
He gave me a genuine smile as his cheeks started to turn a slight shade of red and he quickly looked down so his eyes were glued to the ground. Either he's beginning to like me or I am WAY deep in the friend zone. I escaped my thoughts as I stared deep in thought at that T-shirt and gave him a half-smile.
"I haven't worn that shirt in about a year."
"Why?" He asked me, a hint of concern in his voice.
"That was the exact shirt I was wearing when I can home and found out that my house had broken into."
I didn't want to bring the mood down, but he seemed like the type of guy that didn't dwell on the sad stuff.
"Oh gosh, I'm so sorry, when did it happen?"
"About a year ago," I answered.
"Is that why you moved here?" I could tell that he was kind and sincere when he asked this.
"Oh no," I said, trying to lighten the mood, "I was born here, and moved away when I was three. But all my family lives here, and so when my dad got a job offer to be a manager for his company, we just couldn't say no."
He smiled after I said this and replied, "Well I'm really glad you did."
After he said this he rubbed the back of his neck with his left hand in that way that all the hot boys in movies do. Gosh this boy was perfect, so kind and genuine and caring. He was shy at first but has really started to open up, and I'm glad he did. I found out we have so much in common, and I could tell he knew it too.
"I'm really glad I did too!" I said as I smiled at him, my eyes beaming.
Shortly after we finished unpacking and went downstairs, it was about 6:00. My four new neighbors, my parents, and I joined in front of the front door to thank them and say goodbye.
As they were leaving they told us that their parents and little brother were coming back from a three-day trip to their grandparents' house, and wanted to introduce us to them. Coincidentally, my brothers would be arriving the next day as well, so we agreed to meet around 2 pm.
As we said our goodbyes, Ross grabbed my hand and said "I had a lot of fun today Rose, I'll see you tomorrow!"
I smiled and replied "I really did too, thanks for all you're help!"
He began to walk back to his house and I shut the front door, while my hand still felt sparks from when he touched me. I couldn't wait until tomorrow.
