Knight and Shining Hayden :: Four
I rolled over onto my side at the sound of my alarm clock. I groaned, running a hand down my face while using the other hand to forcefully smack the alarm to quiet. Once that was done, I carefully pried my tear dried encrusted eyelids open and blinked several times.
When I got home last night, I fixed myself some rice - because it was the only thing in the house besides a head of three week old lettuce - and then headed off to bed around five. I spent three hours switching off on texting Mel, crying my eyes out into my pillow and burning Lee's stuff in a voodoo ritual. Okay, so I didn't have some kind of ritual, but I did burn all the pictures and presents he gave me with my mother's old cigarette lighter.
After about a half an hour laying in bed and checking my Twitter and Facebook account, I decided to drag myself out of bed and start making some lettuce tacos for lunch since it was nearing noon. Sighing, I slipped my feet into my flip-flops that were sitting at the head of my bed and walked out into the hallway with my pajamas on.
"Morning Tantrum," Hayden greeted wearing a white tank top and a pair of khaki cargo shorts, "I'm just fixing some bacon."
I looked over at the stove, which was now simmering away pieces of bacon and rubbed my eyes to make sure I wasn't seeing things. "Where'd the bacon come from?" I asked, taking a seat at the kitchen table.
Hayden grabbed a spatula and turned over the fragile pieces, "I ran to the store this morning while you were sleeping." He said with a shrug and then moved over to the fridge to grab something out of it. When he closed the door, he appeared in front of me with a carton of orange juice.
"The cups are in the cabinet above the stove." I replied automatically, not bothering to look at Hayden or ask what he was silently looking for.
I heard a few doors slam, cups clinking together and then finally the sound of juice hitting the glass. I sighed, putting my elbow on the table and resting my hand upon my propped up palm. I was starting to get a headache already and it wasn't even half passed noon.
"Rough night?" Hayden asked quietly and placed the glass of juice in front of me.
I nodded, raising the glass to my lips. "Rough night." I confirmed and then took a slug of the fresh orange juice. It was better than having expired milk that was still sitting in the fridge.

"Thanks Hayden," I said, pushing my empty plate away from me, "I didn't know you could cook."
He smirked, "You didn't ask for a job description in the advertisement," He shrugged and picked up my plate from my table, "Just don't get used to this."
"Why are you being so nice?" I asked, referring to his usual arrogant attitude.
"I know you had a rough night," He said and turned on the water that flowed through the kitchen sink, "Relationships suck sometimes."
"You've had relationships?"
"I'm not a player, Addison. I've grown up more than anyone my age should of had too." He muttered, scrubbing the plates with so much force I thought he was going to crack them in half. Him saying my real name instead of the nickname fazed me for a second before I shook it off.
"Care to share?" I asked, getting up and walking towards the sink. I stood next to him, my back leaning against the counter. He glanced over at me then returned his attention to the sink and scrubbed the already clean plate some more.
