I wish we could go out on long car rides with the wind clawing at our faces
Sit in that little diner of ours and get milkshakes together
As we’d drive through town we would be as chaotic as we could
Blasting our playlist you titled “Cyberpunk” in the starry night sky
You’d park your car in the street and we’d go into the thrift shop
An hour later we got leather jackets because we “felt cool”
I’d grab your hand and lead you to go get warm waffles
The small restaurant closing in about ten minutes
But as usual it didn’t take that long
So we’d go out and watch the moon hide behind clouds
You would say the puffy clouds look like piles of snow
And I would call you the biggest dork ever
The soft seats were possibly made out of fake leather
Though I couldn’t promise that
I loved to trace the lines on your palm and try to count your freckles
My fingers would glide across your arm as I drew imaginary pictures
For the first time in years I actually felt happy and no doubt in love
It was our favourite way to spend time
Being reckless and almost getting caught
Getting milkshakes and stargazing
Singing along to our music as loud as we could
And watching your eyes reflect the light from the moon
The wind would try to tear us apart
It knew how dangerous we were together
But we never let go of each other’s hands
