*italics are Tony Stark's inner thoughts*

"I added a few of my own notes..." You tuned Stark out as you flipped the book open to about the middle, a few of your tears falling against the edge of a page that was covered in his handwriting, and small sketches of early designs for the nanotechnology that he currently had on his body "Hey. You're here, now. And I want to sign over the rights to some of the stuff you helped create."

"Mr. Stark..." You shut the book, breathing a quiet sigh of relief after noticing that he hadn't disturbed the secret pocket at the front that held the last known picture you had of your mother, tucking it under your arm and then looking up to see him detaching the nano tech module from his chest "I can't possibly... this all belongs to you. You may have been inspired by my ideas but..."

"Y/n. Please, call me Tony." He stepped towards you, his palm outstretched, and you swore that he was trembling "Will you at least try it on? I want you to experience for yourself what this stuff can do."

"I shouldn't be so scared..." You nervously laughed as Tony carefully placed the nano unit against your chest, mumbling a quiet apology when you flinched at the loud noise it made.

"Sorry... it's just, settling, scanning your body and such." He ran his hands through his hair as he stepped back, his deep brown eyes still studying yours with a strange curiosity, like he was still hiding something from you "Pete told me you had a couple bruised ribs?" You nodded as you traced your fingers along the edge of the device, which was now quietly humming against the fabric of your shirt.
-
-
"It should have immediately rejected her..."
-
-
"Is this going to hurt..." Your heart pounded in your chest when he stepped closer to you, and even when he quietly laughed under his breath as he shook his head no, it didn't make you feel much better.

Damn your anxiety, choosing this moment to come bubbling up.

It was something you and Peter had been working on, becoming more comfortable in social situations... where was he, by the way?

You knew you'd been here with Tony for at least a couple of hours...

"When you're ready, tap the middle of that twice. I promise it isn't going to hurt."
-
-
"I won't let it hurt her."
-
-
You raised your shaking hand, your fingers fumbling against the surface of the device, and you softly tapped it twice, lowering your arms as he had instructed.

You felt the nano metal slowly smoothing itself over your entire torso first, and a slight twinge of pain caused you to wince when it reached your lower abdomen. There was still some bruising that hadn't completely healed, but you hadn't said anything to Peter, or Stark for that matter. You were so used to not wanting to bother other people with your problems...

You held your palms up as it finished covering your fingers, marveling at the way it had perfectly formed over your skin in the all too familiar Iron Man red and gold hue.

In this precise moment, you forgot about all the little parts of yourself you hated...

Your mother leaving you, not knowing who your father was... being bullied in school for being so smart... and so different.

The way your hips were too wide... and the extra weight you had carried around your entire life.

All of it, gone.

"Don't tell the kid I'm letting you do this..." Tony motioned to the suit that was now nearly finished forming around you, save for your neck and face, his eyes sparkling as he walked a circle around you "He's been bugging me about trying this on himself ever since we met."
-
-
"How is this possible... the nano tech is only coded to my DNA... what if she's..."
-
-
"I have not..." Peter's voice interrupted the moment, and you turned to see him gripping your phone in his hand "Sorry... went to the lab to find you two and your phone was ringing. I think it was your uncle?" He placed your phone on the desk before backing up, and shoving his hands into his pockets "You... you look incredible. I mean... you always have it's just."

"Just wait kid... wait until you see, that..." Tony's eyes widened as the mask finally formed around your head, and inside, you were blinking your eyes rapidly as a bright LED display came to life.

"Good afternoon Miss... I'm Jarvis, Mr. Stark's AI system." There was so much information flying past your field of vision that you felt yourself becoming dizzy, and Jarvis must have sensed it, because the screen was suddenly cleared of everything, and all you could see was Stark and Peter in front of you.

Tony had put on a pair of sunglasses for some reason, and Peter seemed to be messing around with his phone... acting quite disinterested in what was happening right in front of him.

"Can they hear me right now?"

"Only if you want them to. The default setting for this suit allows complete privacy. I do apologize miss, but my scan indicates you have an injury that is causing you quite a bit of discomfort..." You swallowed, hard, hoping that the suit wasn't relaying any of this information to Stark even though you knew it was very likely that exact thing was going on, going by how Stark's body had stiffened up "I can notify emergency services..."

"I'm fine Jarvis..." You took a few steps forward, acclimating yourself to the suit, and just as you rounded the corner of the desk, you heard your phone ringing, and the suit quickly folded back into the module on your chest as you picked up your phone and clicked the green button.

"Y/n..." Your Uncle trailed off, his voice cracking before he managed to get more than your name out "It's... your aunt. She... there was an accident, on her way to work this morning and..."
