A few days later. Night.
I yawned and rolled around in the uncomfortable seat. I slowly opened my eyes and saw Dean looking through the newspapers.
Sam was still asleep in the backseat.
I yawned again "what are you doing?"
Dean "What's it look like I'm doing? "
It's now that i realized that Dean had put his jacket over me to keep me warm.
Me " Like you're looking for a job."
Dean nodded "Yahtzee. "
I whined tired "but we just finished a job like two hours ago."
Dean "Adrenaline's still pumping, I guess. So, what do you think... Cedar Rapids, Tulsa, or Chi-Town? "
Me "You know how much i love hunting, Dean, but i don't love it as much as sleep. We need to sleep, Dean, you need to sleep "
Dean nodded "Yeah, we can sleep when we're dead. "
I eyed him for a second "Dean, look at me"
He didn't look at me.
I put a hand on his arm and his arm relaxed. He then looked at me.
I said softly "You're exhausted, Dean."
Dean looked at the newspaper " I'm good. "
I shook my head "no, you're not. You're trying to run but you can't forever"
He looked at me " And what am I running from? "
Me "You know what i am talking about. Or are we pretending that never happened? "
Dean " Stratton, Nebraska. Farm town. A man gets hacked to death in a locked room inside a locked house. No signs of forced entry."
I went to say something but he shot me a pleading look.
I sighed "Sounds like a ghost. "
Dean nodded " Yes, it does"
Me "then what are you waiting for? drive"
