Double update ...
Jacobi was up early the next morning to start training. Training had been under his leadership since his transition. He looked at all the faces around him and he didn't find Nora's. Was he wrong to have told her last night? Once he'd told her, she had forcefully pushed out of his arms and went into the crowd of dancers. He'd let her go to have time to think, not that she needed to. There was no going back from her. She was his,to love and to care for,to protect and hell be damned if he was letting her leave his pack.
He was brought out of his thoughts by approaching footsteps. He could smell her scent as it floated around him and he turned his head to catch her gaze.
Fuck! She was looking delicious enough to eat in a sleeveless grey top and shorts. He saw the way the male wolves turned to look at her and he growled lowly. Her gaze met his and he swore he saw something akin to longing and lust there. Just as she stepped into line, he started the exercise.
As Nora wondered to the pack field for the morning training, her eyes caught Jacobi's and she'd involuntarily taken in a gulp of air. Hot damn! He was looking sexy as sin in a black tight tank and sweat pants. Her eyes trailed over his muscular body before meeting his eyes. The lust filled gaze he was giving her was enough to make her weak in the knees. Her mind went back to the previous night after he'd dropped the bomb about them being mates on her.
Mates were sacred to the shifter community. Finding your mate was the best thing that could happen to a shifter. The mate bond was sacred and shifters who rejected their mates weren't considered as fit to be part of a pack. They were literally reduced to omegas in pack status.
She had needed time for the news to sink in. Mates were incredibly rare and she finding hers was a miracle and the best thing that happened to her. She wasn't ready for a mate. Yet. But she would accept him. They would grow together. Finding someone made specially for you was a miracle and she wouldn't let it sleep from her palms.
"Nora?"
She turned to see Angela beside her."Yeah?"
"Mom and Dad are looking for you." Angela stated.
"Why?" Why would Aldrich and Nina possibly look for her. She was aware they had a meeting with the other Alphas.
"I don't know."She was directed to the Alpha's office and she knocked before stepping in. Aldrich and Nina were present with Jacobi and his parents. He was standing to one side of the office his eyes giving her an intense look. The rest of the eyes in the room landed on her. When did he even get here? She didn't remember seeing him leave the field. Was she in some kind of trouble?
Aldrich cleared his throat before speaking. "We've heard the news dear, Jacobi told us. Congratulations."
She stared at them blankly." What?"
"About you being mates." Nina said smiling at her.
"Oh." Was all she could say as she turned to glare at Jacobi. She knew she should have told him she needed time before breaking the news to her family.
"Is it true?" Nina asked as if to be sure.
She murmured out a weak 'yes'. Before she could understand what was happening she was engulfed in a tight hug by Nina."Ooh, I'm so happy for you."
She gasped out a 'thanks' while trying her beat not to suffocate. She was released from the hug as Jacobi's mom came up to her.
"I'm happy for you. I wouldn't have picked a better girl to be my son's mate." Eve said.
That sentence sounded ominous like she knew something no one else knew."Nora. oh God, I'm getting emotional." Nina said wiping imaginary tears from her eyes. Aldrich looked at anywhere but his mate seemingly embarrassed at her outburst.
"I'll miss you so much. Three years isn't a really long time." Nina said.
Nora was flabbergasted by this. What was Nina saying?
"What are you talking about? I'm not going anywhere."
"Your not coming back with us. Your home is here...with your mate."
