Two things could have woken you up that morning. Nevertheless, it was nearly impossible to get any sleep.
1. There was mayhem in the early hours of the morning. Not many people saw it, but rumors spread quickly that someone had had an anxiety attack.
2. The early brewing argument between Anza and someone who clearly wasn't someone you recognized.
Not many people saw the second option. But, it was clearly heard. What most people heard was this.
"You know they'll find them, Anza." A girl perched up on the dining room table says. "You can't hide them forever."
"They're not going to be hiding forever." Anza mumbles. "It's never permanent, Carmen. I've done this before." she adds with a hint of defiance in her voice.
Carmen pursed her lips in thought. She was a beautiful and exotic beauty, Carmen. Her skin was tanned naturally, and her glossy black hair tumbled down her back in curls that seemed unnatural. Her eyes were a mocha colored which held a dark edge behind them that could make her enemy cover.
Everything about Carmen screamed danger.
"But this is the most you've ever housed." Carmen retorts. "You should send some of them to us, you know."
"That's almost like sending them to slaughter." Anza mutters coldly.
"At least they'll be doing something instead of hiding in their shells like turtles. They can be tracked, Anza. There's technology to do that now. Once Master spreads word about how-"
Anza is sure to stop Carmen there. With a slam of her teacup to the table, she rises from her seat and looks Carmen directly in the eyes.
"Get out of my house, Barker." she says softly, anger lying beneath her words.
"I'm only doing what's right." Carmen murmurs back, smirking with delight at the fact that she had pushed Anza to her limit.
"Get out of my house!!" She repeats, her voice rising with anger.
"Alright, alright!" Carmen says, slipping herself off the table. However, before she leaves, she pauses a moment. It wasn't clear if she was actually thinking about something, or if she was trying to piss Anza off a bit more.
"Actually," Carmen adds with an almost delicate smile. "Theres something I need to do. Then I'll be on my merry way."
With that, Carmen practically skips out of the dining room. Anza buries her face in her hands as she slumps back into her chair. Knowing that this conversation happened, you can only wonder one thing.
Was there something Anza was hiding from you all?
