Pushing people away, that was something that Keith did well.

He use to love being around others and messing around with kids his age but as time went on Keith started to distance himself from others.

It started off with not kissing his dad goodnight and progressed to not giving him a hug either.

Keith felt that it wasn't necessary to have that type of contact with his loved ones anymore but he didn't know it would cause him so many problems in the future.

Any time that his father asked for a hug Keith would push him away and say "you know I don't like hugs." Or "let go of me!"

The rejection hurt Keith's father but he respected his sons wishes. Mr Kogane loved to hug his son but felt he could no longer do that.

As time went on Keith grew to fear the intimacy of physical contact, he didn't like how vulnerable it made him feel and if anyone tried to embrace him, he would spout angered words.

Keith's father died in a fire and that caused him to further shut people out, he didn't need anyone, he was fine on his own.

He did need the soothing comfort.....but he wanted it.

Deep down inside a longing started to grow. He pushed everyone away and now he wanted them back. He was so alone and so cold.

He was cold, a coldness that couldn't be cured with the heat of a fire. An emptiness that longed to be filled.

Keith longed to see his father, he longed to feel his touch.

All he wanted was one last hug.

Been a while hasn't it.

I hope you like this short little story and I hope that you all know you are loved by people, because when you start to push them away, the lack of soothing comfort can come back to haunt you.
Trust me, it hurts.

Have a great day or night 😊
