The sky changed and morphed from colour to colour as the golden sun danced on the horizon. Lance dangled his legs over the edge of the cliff, swinging them back and forth as he glanced down at the ground; seeing how far the distance was. He sighed solemnly, not liking the idea of being back on earth, not one bit. The fading sun shone bright but the light did not reach Lance's eyes, they remained dull and lifeless, a testament to the person that lies behind the smile. Voltron had arrived on Earth only hours ago and already the Blue Paladin had sunk back into the person he was before, the person that nobody knew of, and the person that Lance didn't want them to see; but now he couldn't help but show. They were set to return to their homes tomorrow, back to the place where their family was, back to the love and support that it provides. People already knew that Keith has no place to go, that Pidge practically lives at the Garrison along with Shiro and Hunk's family had already arrived to pick him up. But what about Lance, his family lives in Cuba right? Wrong. So very wrong. They didn't live in Cuba, heck, they didn't even dwell among the living. He had no one.....well there was one person Lance could go to but he didn't want to.

"Hey Lance!" Lance turned around to be met with the warm smile of Keith. The Red Paladins face imbued a sense of happiness and excitement beyond the likes of which Lance has ever felt. Keith came over and sat down beside the tan boy, placing a hand on his shoulder and noticing the small flinch. "So are you heading off to Cuba tomorrow?" Lance didn't know how to respond, so he did the only thing that his mind could think of in that moment. "Haha...no, I'm going to head to my boyfriends place..." these words shocked Keith, he never thought that Lance of all people would have a boyfriend, he expected, with all of the flirting, that Lance would be with a girl not boy. But love comes differently for every person.

"Is that so..." Keith turned his eyes to the nearly gone light, if he was going to be honest he'd say that he is jealous of this man. Lance deserved the best and Keith knew that he could give that to him. Lance stopped moving his legs and shuffled away from the cliff, he stood to his feet and wrapped his arms around himself as a light breeze whirled around. "Yeah, in fact...I'm going to pack my stuff...r-right now." The stutter went unnoticed but Lance bolted off just in case Keith went to ask him anymore questions. Dashing into his room the Cuban picked up his phone and texted an old number, hoping to dear God that there would be no response.

With that Lance placed his phone on the bedside table and laid down on his bed. The lights in the room went out and he curled up into a ball, the weight of the conversation crashed down on him, causing tears to well. A cold air surrounded him and all the sadness began to consume him. Lance thought that he had escaped, but he just caved, with one text all his freedom had disappeared again. However for some reason Lance felt happy, that he had someone to go to. All he had to do was behave...obey.

Closing his eyes Lance let go of all reason and allowed the darkness of nightmares to take hold. Keith walked through the halls happening upon Lance's room, he sees the male laying on the bed asleep with tears down his cheeks. He closed the door and walked away, still wondering why Lance was sitting at the edge of a cliff, alone.
