"what do you want?" i replied bitterly, my grip tightening on the phone.

"that's no way to talk to your mother lucas." she says sternly.

"yeah, but you're not my mother- you're an asshole who left me when you found out i had cancer. a real mother would never do that." i said angrily, my knuckles turning white from the grip on my phone.

"luke calm down- it's okay." ashton says quietly from beside me, wrapping his arm around my waist and kissing the top of my head.

"who was that lucas?" 

"jesus christ stop calling me that!"

"answer the question."

"it's my boyfriend!"

"boyfriend?!"

"yeah mom- i like dick."

after that she hung up and i slipped the phone back into my pocket.

ashton grabbed me by the shoulders and stopped me.

he pulled me into a hug and kissed the top of my head.

"sorry my mum ruined our date." i mumbled into his shoulder.

"she didn't- it's okay." ashton chuckled, pulling away and grabbing my hand.

"lets go back babe." he smiled, walking us back to the hospital.

ashton and i climbed back in through the window and sat down in the closet for awhile.

"y'know- maybe we should go get lunch- see how alfie's doing?" i suggest, looking over at ashton.

"yeah- sounds good." he smiles, standing up and following me out of the closet.

when we get to the cafeteria, i spot michael with alfie, calum and two other girls.

me and ashton sit down beside eachother at the end of the table, causing everyone to look at us.

"sorry- you guys can't sit there- michael is saving those seats for his friends." the one girl says, looking over at michael.

"s'okay- these are my friends." he laughs, patting the younger girls head.

i wave shyly and they both giggle and whisper something to eachother.

"this is ava and katherine. they're new here." calum says with a small smile, pointing at them.

"i'm ashton- and this is my boyfriend luke." ashton says softly, looking over at me.

calum literally spits out a mouth full of soda onto alfie when ashton says that.

alfie raises his arms angrily and rushes out of the cafeteria.

"dammit." calum mumbles, crossing his arms.

"so you guys are a thing?" michael asks, his mouth still hung open.

"thought you'd known." i shrug, taking a fry from michaels tray.

"didn't know ash was the relationship type." michael laughs, looking around awkwardly.

"you guys are cute." ava says with a small yawn.

"tired aves?" katherine sighs, looking over to the older girl.

"yeah- as always." she mumbles, looking down.

"wanna go back to your room? i'll walk ya?" katherine smiles, patting avas back.

"yeah- lets go." she shrugs, standing up.

"see ya later kiddos." michael smiles, waving to them as they leave.

"so-" michael says boredly after a long awkward silence.

"so." i mock, propping my arm on the table and resting my head in the palm of my hand

"you know that make a wish thing?" calum begins, looking around at all of us.

"yep." we all say in unison.

"i'm going to this concert- and i want you all to come with me." he says slowly, looking to see our reactions.

"concert? for who?" ashton sighs.

"all time low." calum smiles.

"i'm in." i say quickly.

"same here." michael nods, smiling at calum.

"well if you guys are in, i am too. thanks cal." ashton smiles shyly, patting calums back.

"so are you all free friday?"
