NBR's third season is well underway, and the enthusiasm level is off the scale!

The members have done it to me again *hands up in the air,* blowing me away with the thoughtfulness, thoroughness and quality of their reviews. You people rock!

Seriously, I am like, what?

I'm shaking with excitement for new members to have the Spotlight shine on them (your turn is coming soon). Stay focused, polish up your chapter for when your time does come and when it does: keep engaged with your readers, ask those probing questions and use your time in the Spotlight to the fullest.

This issue is full of goodies for all members, new and returning. We have some great articles sent in by members that will expand the way you think about writing. LITERARY ALCHEMY from @redtoadmedia . . . does anyone really know what that even is? CHARACTERIZATION by @VeilofPetals is a must read for those struggling with building three-dimensional characters or those of us who just want to add some layers to their beloved creations. And, a little history of a spooky spirit from the wickedly wonderful celebration, Halloween, by yours truly.

So grab that coffee, tea, or whatever you like, and let's get on with it, shall we?

Glad to have you all,

Michael Holiday - Editor in Chief

The debate has begun among Wattpad writers and readers as to the effects of the new pay program being tested

The debate has begun among Wattpad writers and readers as to the effects of the new pay program being tested. On one side, the fact that Wattpad has many young readers makes it a negative ... they just don't have much disposable income—and that goes for some of us older WP members, too! On the other side, authors get a chance to reap the rewards of their hard work. And there are countless opinions in between.

Me? I wonder if agents and publishers would shy away from an author who participates in the program, considering that by taking money, they are e-publishing their work (as opposed to just posting for feedback and reviews). Granted, some authors start as self-published, but very few make the transition of being added to the list of a traditional publisher this route.
