Irene was born in Daegu, South Korea on March 29, 1991.

In 2009, Irene was cast into SM and is skilled in rapping and modern dance.

Career

S.M. ROOKIES

Irene was previously promoted by S.M. Entertainment through their pre-debut group, S.M. ROOKIES, along with fellow Red Velvet members, Seulgi and Wendy. She was officialy released as part of S.M. ROOKIES Project on December 9, 2013 together with other rookies like Lami & Jaehyun.

SM Town, S.M. Entertainment's official YouTube channel, released clips of the group, including a video of Irene and fellow Red Velvet member, Seulgi, performing "Be Natural".

Irene made her official debut with Red Velvet on August 1, 2014.

Promotions

Before her debut with Red Velvet, Irene was in the February 2014 Issue of "The Celebrity Magazine" with fellow Red Velvet member, Seulgi and fellow SM Rookies, Taeyong and Johnny.
