Biography

 

Wendy was born in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada on February 21, 1994. She studied in Richmond Hill High School in Ontario.

In 2012, she auditioned at the 'S.M Global Audition' in Canada and was recognized for her musicality, being able to play instruments such as the piano, guitar, flute and saxophone, as well as her vocal skills.

Career

S.M. ROOKIES

Wendy was part of S.M. Entertainment's pre-debut group, S.M ROOKIES, along with fellow Red Velvet members, Irene and Seulgi. She was officialy released as part of S.M. ROOKIES Project on March 15, 2014.

S.M. Entertainment's official YouTube channel released several clips of the group, including a video of Wendy doing a cover of Taylor Swift's "Speak Now".

Red Velvet

Wendy made her official debut with Red Velvet on August 1, 2014.

Solo activities

Prior to being a member of Red Velvet, Wendy released the track "I Have to Forget You", which is part of the OST of the Mnet drama, Mimi, a drama which her label mate, TVXQ's Changmin, stars in. She also appeared in the song's music video.
