I'm Right Here - Rilaya

Maya POV

"Fuck! Why can't you see what's right in front of you, Riley!?" I yell at the brunette standing in front of her bed. I groan in frustration and run my hands through my hair. She gives me a confused look. "What are you talking about? I can see that you clearly hate Lucas!" She snaps back at me.

"Of course I hate Lucas! He treats you like shit, he just wants you for sex, he's been treating you like this for three years! Ever since we were freshman! He doesn't deserve you! He doesn't love you! He'll never love you the way I-" I freeze and stare at the brunette, and I watch as her eyes widen, and the realization on why I hate Lucas dawns on her. "You... Wait.." She shakes her head and sits down on the bed.

I feel my eyes start to sting with tears as I realize what I had just done. "I.. I'm sorry.." I whisper before I climb out of the bay window and down the fire exit, the tears flowing from my eyes now. I can hear Riley calling my name behind me, but I don't stop.

I hear a knock on my bedroom door, and I don't move from my position on my bed, laying down on my side, my back to the door, my cheeks still wet from crying. I hear it open, and I wipe my eyes quickly. "Mom.. can you please leave me alone?" I mumble.

"I'm not your mom... but I'll go if you want me to." My heart flutters instantly when I recognize her voice. I could recognize her voice anywhere. I hear her footsteps come closer, and feel the bed sink down, and then I feel her hand on my arm. we're both silent for a few minutes, the silence somewhat awkward, but also comfortable.

"I broke up with Lucas." She says finally, and I roll over to look at her. "Why? I thought you loved him." I whisper, and watch her closely. I can't read her face. I wish I could.

"I thought I did too... but then I realized I loved someone else." She says softy, and a small smile appears on her lips. "I realized that.. it's always been you, Maya. You- you understand me in a way no one else does. You love me in a way that Lucas never could. You... complete me." She whispers, and I notice her eyes are tearing up.

I don't know what to say. I never thought she would feel the same. "I.. I thought you would hate me.." I whisper, and sit up slowly. She immediately shakes her head. "I thought you would leave me..." I let out, and feel tears well up in my eyes.

"No! No, Maya. I could never hate you. And I would never leave you. I'm right here. Forever and always." She says and the gently cups my cheek with her hand. I lean into it naturally, and smile, my eyes fluttering shut.

"Forever and always." I say, and feel her soft lips connect with mine.

After a few moments, she pulls away from the gentle kiss, and I smile. "I love you, Riles." She leans her forehead on mine.

"I love you too, Peaches."

I know this is super short, but it's cute. :)
