She sat perfectly still in front of the mirror not moving her slow shallow breath only evident by the minute rising and falling of her chest. Her long golden brown hair was arranged in a mess of curls framing her wide face and strong cheekbones. But her most prominent features were her eyes. Large, almond shaped and gold they complimented her honey colored skin and didn't need the glittering bright makeup to help them stand out and sparkle.

After staring into the mirror for a long time she slowly raised her hand to its surface which rippled under her touch. 

Someone knocked harshly on the door and she flinched. 

"Madam you're up."

With a sharp jerk she pulled her fingers out of the mirror causing it to shatter. Ignoring the gash it left on her hand she gracefully rose to her feet. 

Glancing one last time at the mirror with longing in her eyes she draped a gauzy scarf around her neck, hid her hand in the folds of her crimson skirt, and swept out of the room.
