"Pevroli," Asurah muttered, his white eyes trained on the gun in Jack's hand.
I held up my own hand, thrusting the other towards Asurah in order to pull him behind me, earning me a curious glance from the albino. "Jack, put the gun down," I tried to reason, watching as Jack scoffed and rolled his eyes.
"Why for? So you can take your pretty little doll and run with my fortune?"
Fortune? What is he talking about? My brows furrowed, a frown pulling at my lips as I regarded the other male curiously. "Fortune? What fortune, Jack?"
Jack laughed, the sound maniacal and nothing at all like the Jack I once knew. "Top of the academy, and you're still stupid. I narrowed my eyes at him, but didn't get a chance to speak as he continued, pacing around, his gun still trained on us. "Your little porcelain doll right there? He's worth a fortune on the black market. Hell, by just selling him I could live out the rest of my life happily in my wealth."
"I'm not an object to be bought and sold!" Asurah snapped, throwing his hands in the air in exasperation.
I nodded, completely agreeing with him. I turned to face Jack, my gaze unwavering as he sent Asurah a glare. "Asurah's right, Jack. He's a person just like us. He has feelings too. Don't let greed ruin your life. Put the gun down. I'm sure we can work something out."
Jack pursed his lips in thought, his nose wrinkling before he laughed and pulled the trigger, enticing a strangled gasp from me as the bullet lodged itself into my thigh, making me fall to the floor in complete agony.
"Joseph!" Asurah wailed, his eyes wide. He turned his attention back to Jack, who merely shrugged, as if the scene before him amused him. The sick bastard. That freaking hurt. "You bastard!: Asurah continued, his eyes snapping fire as he glared at the other man. "I hope you jump into a volcano, you prick!"
"You're spry, I'll give you that much. Luckily for me, the price doesn't drop if you're dead."
My eyes widened and I screamed when Jack pulled the trigger, shooting Asurah in the chest. "You son of a-" I jumped up and tackled Jack to the ground, punching him hard in the face, making the other man grunt in pain before he got his barings and kicked me off of him. I gasped as I hit the floor, my spine slamming painfully into the hard tile as the breath completely left me. I shifted my gaze, expecting to see Asurah's dead body on the floor, only for my eyes to go wide in shock as Asurah remained standing, staring at his chest in wonder. I watched with disbelief as Asurah dug the bullet out of his chest, letting it fall to the floor before he sent Jack a look so fierce, it made even me shiver.
"Your measly little guns will do nothing to me, human." He sneered, glaring at the other man, who paled as he realized Asurah was fine.
"W...How are you still standing?!" Jack shrieked, his eyes wide as he took a step back, raising his gun once more.
Asurah shrugged, walking closer to the shaking male. "I don't know and I don't care. What I do care about, is the fact that you put a bullet in my friend." He launched at Jack, who fired off a couple of shots, missing as Asurah barreled into him, knocking him hard into the floor. I had always thought Asurah a pacifist, but seeing him angry made me rethink my deduction. It was like a new...being was unleashed, a being of raw beauty and power, and I admittedly found it to be quite sexy on him.
"You. Don't. Ever. Shoot. Joseph. Again, you jerk!" Asurah screamed with each fist smacked against Jack's face.
Even from where I currently was, I could see the blood gushing out of Jack's nose without pause, the crimson liquid staining Asurah's porcelain skin. Jack was all mumbles now, probably shocked at Asurah's violence. Hell, even I was shocked, since I only knew the kind person Asurah was. I had no idea he had a darker...sexier side to him. Jack finally passed out with the last punch the albino king dished out to him. Asurah stood up from his form and rushed over to me, tears in his eyes as he grabbed my face, squishing my cheeks together.
"Are you ok?! Please don't die on me! I know I'm kind of annoying and all, but please hold on for me, I swear I won't-"
"Asurah."
"-be annoying anymore. I'll...I dunno right now, but-"
"Asurah."
"-I can figure something out and -mph!" I silenced him with a kiss, the man above me going as silent as the grave as I delicately brushed my lips against his. He melted against me, careful to not put any pressure on my wound.
I pulled away from him, cradling his face in my hands as I regarded him with a serious look. "I got shot in the thigh, Ash. I'll be fine."
"But...but humans don't have thick skin like Glacic's do," he sniffed, pouting.
I rolled my eyes and laughed, stopping as I remembered something. "Is that why the bullet didn't affect you? Because of your thicker skin?"
Asurah shrugged, blushing slightly as he averted his eyes. "How the heck should I know? I'm not into all that sciency junk, and stuff. So," he looked down at my bloody thigh and gently placed a hand on it, making me wince slightly, "what do we do about this? I feel like it will get infected if we don't do something now."
"Not into all that sciency junk, huh?" I grinned as Asurah rolled his eyes and got off of me, instead, lending me his hand so he could help me stand up.
"I may not know a lot about science, but medical is another equation." He helped me over to one of the tables and went to grab some gauze as I sat down, holding my breath as my leg tingled in disagreement. He came back over to me and looked at me pointedly. "What?" I asked, my brows furrowing together.
"Um..." His cheeks turned red as he cleared his throat, trying to appear nonchalant. "You need to ah...remove your pants if I'm going to get to the wound."
I smirked at his innocent reaction, and carefully stood up, pulling my pants down enough for Asurah to get to the injury. His cheeks stayed red as he grabbed a pair of oblong tongs which were bent at an angle at the end, walking back over to me and biting his bottom lip as he looked me in the eyes. "This might hurt."
I nodded and gripped the edge of the table tightly in preparation for the pain to come. I stifled a groan of agony when Asurah dug the angled end of the tongs into my flesh, digging around until he got to the bullet. When he pulled it out it was like a pressure finally disappeared from my leg, making me sigh in relief as he placed it onto the table next to me, grabbing at the gauze so he could wrap it around my leg.
"Not going to sterilize it?" I asked, making Asurah look at me.
"I would, but I didn't see any disinfecting liquid. Weird, considering this is a lab, you'd think they would have that crap. Apparently not."
I laughed and nodded my head in agreement, my smile fading the longer I stared at Asurah. He stared back at me, and I took this as my chance to ask him something serious. "Asurah? What are we?"
Asurah gave me a weird look, his nose scrunching adorably as his brows twitched. "What do you mean? You're human, and I'm-"
"I don't mean that. I meant...well...whatever's going on between us. We kissed, and...I mean, I'd like to know if it...meant anything at all."
Asurah stared at me for the longest time before he averted his eyes. "I don't know. We're friends, for sure...but anything more, I'm not quite sure. Besides," he looked away as he fastened the gauze on my thigh, "should we really be talking about this while in the base of the enemy?"
Almost exactly after he said that, Olivia's voice rang over the piece in my ear, her voice frantic. "Captain? Um, you might want to hurry out of there. McDouche is on his way, and he doesn't look happy."
Asurah backed away from me, with a nod. "We'll talk about this later. Right now we need to go."
I nodded in agreement pulling my pants back up as Asurah went to find his own clothes. I felt...weirdly disappointed that Asurah claimed we were only friends. I don't know why I felt that way. Maybe it was because deep down, I actually might have wanted something more with him. And if that was the case...that would mean it was more than just infatuation I felt for him. And that scared me. But...it also thrilled me as well. Wow...I'm just a bubble of contradictions, huh?
