Boy oh boy ~~~~~ what a juicy topic
Body image and body shame is a topic we've been discussing for years
But we still see negativity printed all over people's minds
Wander why ? Cause we messed up....
Okay you're skinny , pretty and all
Which is good dont come at me but
Is that everything? Okay you perfect
so what ? What did you do to make a
change in our " fucked up " world?
We are messed up man
let me tell u how
Back in the day when social media started , yk the commercials you see on tv on beauty products , models and everything
Back then the media has all the power because we chose to give it the power
We chose to believe what it says because we though it represented the future and that led us to leave our routes and forget who we are as humans
It came with a certain body image and said " this is beauty " noone said nothing, we followed it
Skinny, light skin , long shiny hair , a certain type of facial features and we believed that was beauty because that's all we've seen . they programmed our brain that this is what beauty is , nothing else is in store
There was no thick , no dark skin , no wavey and big curly hair
But instead of saying " hey don't worry you are beautiful too " they said " hey dont worry we have plastic surgeries , we have pills for weight , products to make your curls go away , bleach for skin " ...........
What is this people ?
Technically , if we never saw that
Will anyone doubt themselves ?
Will any one feel ashemed of who they are ?
No never , cause nobody told us that
And that's what brings me to my point
Self hate is taught, it never comes from you
they didn't force you to
You chose to believe it
Love is born with us , its in within you
You are just never letting it out and I'm talking from experience
Don't search for happiness anywhere else it's inside you
But you buried it in so deep now you can't even reach it , and that's why maybe you may not believe me
Slowly , go through the dark places that you are afraid to go to , see what's so scary about it
It's not scary , it's an illusion
You'll find the love you had for yourself once you realise all the lies that u believed
I loved me first now I can love any one else
