Nicholas nearly fell from his seat by the sudden knock at his dront door upstairs. "Now... what is it this time? More thinga-ma-jig for their crop production rate??" he uttered with a grim in his face. He hurriedly went upstairs to see who was making that racket in his fron door.
TUD TUD TUD TUD!!!!.... "Is somebody inside??" TUD TUD TUD TUD!!!!
"That voice!" he said while he was nearly at the front door.
"Janus, Is that you??" he asked aloud while he unlocks the door.
And when he opens it, he was right. It was his fellow wizard, Janus Magus.
Janus Magus, a wizard who also escaped from the clutches of the state and church (who were corruptes by money and taxes). A good friend of Nicholas, and a practitioner and Master of elemental magic. Thus, earning the title of "The Elemental Master" in their Tolaria Academy Days.
"Rejoice this night! Never thought you will be safe my friend!" said Nicholas while he hugged his old friend.
"Same Catchy Nich of mine! I am glad that you are well also!" said Janus cheerfully.
"How did you know that I am residing here at this lone village of the South?" said Nicholas while locking again his front door.
"Well, while I was travelling alone from the escape of our lives I overheard some farmers outside of this village that a lone wizard was living here. And, in exchange they said that the wizard invented some machina for their crop production to lessen the time to cultivate and time to harvest. And I knew that it was you! You always tinker in time, that is for sure." Janus said with a grin on his face.
"Hahaha... well you are right, my friend. Time is my specialty....".
Nicholas suddenly paused for a monent, then spoke to Janus again.
"Is this really the reason why you are here? Or is it someting else?" he said to Janus seriously.
"Same old Nich, always have a keen perception to things...." Janus said.
"Come, let's go downstairs so we could talk more" Nicholas said to Janus.
So they went down to his secret workshop. As they were heading down, Janus uttered something to Nicholas.
"The state killed the other wizards two days ago.... including my son".
"What did you say???" Nicholas was shocked in hearing the tragic news.
"I never thought that my son would be looking for me inside the state. And when the realized that he is my son. They tortured him first, forcing him to tell where are we. And when they didn't get the information they wanted, they burned my son like the witches..... " Janus said while teary-eyed.
" Sit down my friend. Relax your mind and tell me more". Nicholas said to him.
"This will going to be a long night after all...." he said to himself.
